NFL Week 5 Odds & Betting Lines: Spread, Moneyline, Over/Under for All 14 Games
The NFL odds for Week 5 were released last week, but as is always the case, there was plenty of movement based on last week's action. Our best NFL betting sites will still make changes throughout the week based on betting patterns, practice reports, and injuries.
We have only 14 games for our NFL Week 5 predictions, as it's our first week with teams on a bye. It kicked off with one of the best games of the season, as the short Thursday Night Football odds home favorites, the Atlanta Falcons, topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in overtime.
Week 5 concludes with a single Monday game between the Monday Night Football odds favorite and Super Bowl odds favorite Kansas City Chiefs hosting the New Orleans Saints (8:15 p.m. ET, ESPN).
In between, we're treated to a shockingly confusing Sunday Night football affair, as the Sunday Night Football odds show. The Dallas Cowboys visit the Pittsburgh Steelers (8:20 p.m. ET, NBC/Peacock), and while they headed in as favorites, the line switched to the home side despite the teams suffering opposite fates in Week 4. America's Team eked out a win, while the Steel Curtain suffered its first defeat.
NFL Week 5 odd and lines
When betting on NFL markets, there's an advantage in getting to these NFL odds early and trying to beat any line movements. The closer you wait until Sunday to make your NFL picks, the more difficult it becomes to identify edges and secure the best price on the outcome you wish to bet on.
That's why it's important to start monitoring the NFL opening odds each week as soon as possible. This proactive approach will contribute to your long-term success in your sports betting endeavors.

Holy tight lines, Batman.
Ten of our 14 games were lined at a field goal or less at open. With TNF in the books, there are still eight games lined at as three or fewer points.
The Thursday tilt between the Bucs and Falcons was a highlight game heading into the week. By the time the season winds down, that one might have major NFC South ramifications.
The same could be said for the Ravens and Bengals in an AFC North tilt if they can sustain their upward trajectories. These two teams would have been considered significant contenders heading into the season but have floundered to start the year. Both picked up resurgent wins in Week 4, although the Ravens' dominant victory over the Bills is undoubtedly more of a statement win and C Jackson Cowart highlighted their Super Bowl odds movement.

I wrote that "some of these lines are so tight that a sniffle or a sneeze might flip them between now and next week", and well, ah-choo. Based on Sunday's results, the Patriots, the Texans, Commanders, and Steelers all flipped sides of the moneyline. The Patriots flipped back following Miami's disastrous performance against the Titans on Monday, and money moved Houston back as the week went on, and the line shifted to Buffalo.
Many teams lined as small underdogs in Week 5 would have been more profitable on the moneyline if you pounced last week and are small favorites now. The Commanders and Steelers are both more expensive now than when they opened.
It looks like it could be a week filled with coinflip games, except the 49ers, Seahawks, Chiefs, and - shockingly - the Bears.

Well, well, well, if it isn't last season's totals creeping back into the picture. Lines have seemingly been shifting lower over the first three weeks of the season, and at open, we had our first week without a game with a total set at higher than 50 points. Bettors changed that early and bumped two lines over 50 following Week 4 action -- well, not so fast. Action throughout the week has dropped them back below 50.
Week 4 didn't bring much movement to these lines, with most games shifting no more than 1.5 points.
The Saints-Chiefs dipped by 3 points based on New Orleans churning out another slow week offensively and Kansas City suffering a major injury blow to star receiver Rashee Rice and the Ravens-Bengals. That's ticked up a half point as the week has gone on.
