The New York Jets need to win their remaining games to make the playoffs, starting with a Week 17 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Let’s break down a pivotal game with our Jets-Seahawks NFL picks.

The Jets, as noted above, can still make the playoffs with two wins in their remaining two games; however, they'll need one loss by the New England Patriots. In their way will stand a familiar foe.

Geno Smith, drafted by New York many moons ago to be its next franchise quarterback, has turned his career around in Seattle this season and can now end the Jets’ playoff dreams.

Here is our best Jets vs. Seahawks NFL pick for Week 17 (odds via BetMGM; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Jets vs. Seahawks Odds Analysis

The Jets weren’t always the favorites for this road matchup. They opened as 1.5-point underdogs before the line started to fly, perhaps due to the fact that Mike White will be returning as New York's starting quarterback. Now, with 49% of the tickets and 50% of the handle on the Jets at DraftKings Sportsbook, New York is a 2-point favorite.

The total hasn’t been a huge play in this matchup, with an even 50-50 split on the ticket count. With that said, 56% of the handle is on the Under, which has dropped from 44 points to 42.5.

Jets vs. Seahawks Pick

Jets -1.5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

It doesn’t seem right to address the Seahawks’ injury concerns first, given the fact that the Jets have lost two cornerstone pieces of their offense, but I need to point out that Seattle is battered and bruised. Wide receiver Marquise Goodwin remains doubtful to play on Sunday, and running backs Kenneth Walker III and Travis Homer, as well as receiver Tyler Lockett, are all questionable. This is an already-flawed offense that’s now going to be a weakened group.

Seattle happens to be 23rd in rushing DVOA, which is a big deal when you’re talking about the Jets. Their pass defense has been one of the best in football this season, and the best way to get to them has been on the ground. Now, you’re looking at two injured running backs—who were already ineffective—trying to turn things around against a still-solid rushing defense, ranked eighth in DVOA.

The Seahawks have once again been dreadful against the pass this season, ranking 22nd in yards per attempt and in the bottom six of the league in DVOA. Mike White has proven to be a better option for the Jets in his short time as QB, coming up with an 85.8 passer rating and over 317 yards per game. He can get to this secondary, and I’m not sure the Seahawks will have any sort of success on the offensive end with the Jets continuing to look excellent on defense.

DraftKings was the holdout, asking folks to lay down two points but eventually joined the rest coming to an agreement on the 1.5 points. With that, it doesn’t really matter where you bet this one. That’ll draw a C-grade from me.
