Carlos Rodon has come a long way from a poor first campaign with the Yankees in 2023, developing into the co-ace the team needed in the wake of Gerrit Cole’s season-ending injury.

Rodon has allowed zero earned runs in five of his last nine starts and has pitched to a 0.72 ERA over his previous four. His 1.27 ERA over his last nine appearances is his lowest in any nine-game span.

Following his last start and dating back to his 25 starts after last year’s All-Star Break, he ranks seventh in ERA, tied for eighth in innings pitched, third in strikeouts, second in K/9, third in strikeout percentage, and is tied for ninth in WHIP among pitchers with a minimum of 25 starts made in that span.

Given that Rodon has an elite 2.0 fWAR, there is likely to be positive regression with the team, as they have gone just 8-5 in his 13 starts thus far.

Rodon has wins in his last seven decisions, and a recent 25-scoreless inning streak has us convinced he will limit a Red Sox team that is just 6-9 against left-handed starting pitchers.

I predict New York will beat Boston by a final score of Yankees 7, Red Sox 4.
