Wyndham Clark separated himself with eight more birdies in Round 2 to gain a multi-stroke lead over the field at 14-under-par as we break down the Players Championship Round 3 odds and picks based on odds from our best golf betting sites.

Scottie Scheffler, the defending champion at TPC Sawgrass, remains in contention, sitting at 8-under-par with a share of T-6 on the leaderboard. Matt Fitzpatrick has produced much more consistently during this event than in recent weeks, surging to 9-under-par at T-4, while Xander Schauffele and Nick Taylor played their way into a T-2 finish at 10-under-par.

Taylor has been the real deal. The Canadian won the WM Phoenix Open in a playoff last month and won the RBC Canadian Open with an epic 70-foot putt to beat Tommy Fleetwood last summer. He has sharp irons and a strong putter, which is why he was recommended in the outright betting market at +3500 with our Players Championship Round 2 picks.  Now, he’s as low as +1200 after the second round.

Other big-name players to pay attention to entering “Moving Day” during Round 3 on Saturday include Jason Day (T-14), Rory McIlroy (T-14), Brian Harman (T-10), Sahith Theegala (T-10), Tom Hoge (T-6), and Sepp Straka (T-14).

Here are the live Players Championship Round 3 odds and picks for Saturday based on the Players Chmpionship odds from our best sports betting sites.

Players Championship Round 3 picks

Tom Hoge outright winner ⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +2800 via Caesars

Coming off of an 8-under-par performance in the first two rounds at TPC Sawgrass, Hoge is set up to contend for the outright win across Saturday and Sunday.

We’ve seen Hoge contend here before, winding up T-3 in 2023 after starting 6-over-par in the opening round. His stats aren’t eye-popping, but he’s ranked first in strokes gained: approach, which is necessary at TPC Sawgrass. Hoge is also ranked 22nd SG: tee-to-green and 30th for greens in regulation.

It’ll be tough to catch Clark, who sits alone at 14-under-par, but Hoge’s shown us he’s more than capable of going on a run at this venue, delivering a 10-under-par in Round 3 a year ago. At +2800 odds in the outright betting market, Hoge is worth staking half a unit on at a course where he’s experienced a lot of success in recent years.

Sahith Theegala top 10 finish ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Best odds: +180 via FanDuel

Sahith Theegala has improved dramatically in the span of one year. He finally notched his first career win at the Fortinet Championship last year, while he’s equipped with one of the best putters on the PGA Tour.

Theegala is solid in most strokes gained categories, brandishing a strong driver and solid irons. The number that jumps out is his birdie-or-better conversion rate, which sits at 36%, ranked 20th. Scoring isn’t an issue for Theegala, who is currently T-10 entering Round 3.

He’s also 43rd or better for par-3, par-4, and par-5 scoring, while finishing strong in the final round, ranked 49th on the PGA Tour for Round 4 scoring average. Another day with a red scorecard means +180 odds will dry up to even or minus odds for his top-10 finish prop.

Let’s stake a unit on Theegala to finally break through at TPC Sawgrass after underperforming here in previous appearances, closing strong by holding onto his current T-10 position on the leaderboard.

How to bet on golf

Betting on golf involves understanding the various types of bets available and how to assess player performance. First, familiarize yourself with the different types of bets commonly offered in golf, including outright winner bets, each-way bets (which cover both a win and a top finish), head-to-head matchups between two players, and proposition bets on specific events within a tournament, such as hole-in-one occurrences or individual player performances on certain holes.

Once you've identified the types of bets you're interested in, research the players, course conditions, recent form, and other relevant factors that could influence outcomes. Pay attention to factors like player statistics, recent tournament performances, course history, and any injuries or changes in form that may affect a player's performance.
