Friday's NFL best bet

Kelce to win Super Bowl 57 MVP (+1600)

Kelce moved into second place on the NFL's all-time list of playoff receiving yards with his performance in the AFC Championship Game. He has long been Mahomes' best pass-catching option, and he may be one of the few available for the Chiefs in the Super Bowl due to injuries.

Despite being a late add to the injury report last week, Kelce delivered seven receptions for 78 yards and one touchdown in the win over the Bengals. His score came on a 4th-down conversion, in which Mahomes and Kelce improvised as they have become so good at doing.

Friday's college basketball best bet

Boise State ML vs. San Diego State (+220) ⭐⭐⭐

San Diego State is looking for revenge against a Boise State team that won all three matchups in 2021-22, including the Mountain West Championship game that resulted in the Broncos’ first-ever conference tournament title. Though seven total points decided those three contests, Boise State held the Aztecs to three of their four-lowest scoring outputs of the season, making the +220 odds here awfully enticing.

Scoring should once again be difficult for San Diego State, as the Broncos rank ninth or better nationally in adjusted defensive efficiency, offensive-rebounding percentage allowed, and 3-point percentage defense.

The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings between these teams. But we're opting for the better value on the inflated moneyline odds rather than the +6.5 points one can find at FanDuel.

Friday's NHL best bet

Makar fastest skater (+330)

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar finished fifth in this competition during last year’s All-Star Weekend. He and Detroit Red Wings center Dylan Larkin are also the only two players returning to the event for a second consecutive year.

Larkin is the betting favorite, and also holds the fastest skater record. However, Makar posted the better time in the previous event, and Larkin was nearly an entire second slower in 2022 than his record-breaking time six years earlier.

Minnesota Wild winger Kirill Kaprizov and Carolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov are more powerful and strong than speedy and quick, which leaves Vegas Golden Knights center Chandler Stephenson.

Stephenson has jets, and he’s a real threat to win this event. I wouldn’t criticize anyone for backing two ponies in this race because of Stephenson's long odds (+400) at FanDuel.

Still, Makar is the pick – he should win everything.

Friday's NBA best bet

Suns +9.5 vs. Celtics (-110) ⭐⭐⭐

The Suns are coming off a 32-point beatdown at home and are now visiting the No. 1 team in the NBA, while still without Devin Booker, Cameron Payne, and Landry Shamet. Over 60% of the public ATS action is on the Celtics to cover, but the line has moved a point in favor of Phoenix, rightfully so.

This season, the Suns are 6-3 ATS when underdogs by four-plus points and 15-10 ATS following a loss. Meanwhile, the Celtics are 16-18 ATS when they are favored by more than four points. Since the New Year, the Suns have attempted the third-most mid-range field goals per game in the NBA, targeting one of the few weaknesses of the Celtics defense. In that span, Boston has allowed the fourth-most field goals made on the ninth-highest shooting percentage in the mid-range area. After shooting just 14.3% from deep and 40.7% from the field in the previous game, expect the Suns to create more and convert more open shots and keep this competitive enough to avoid another double-digit loss.
