Big 12 Predictions, Odds & Best Bets Week 5
The Big 12 delivered as the new chaos league last week when Colorado won in an overtime thriller against TCU and BYU upset Kansas State with a convincing 38-9 victory.
Our Big 12 predictions expect Saturday’s Week 5 slate to be just as entertaining as part of our Week 5 college football predictions.
The action will start with what was expected to be a conference title game preview between Kansas State and Oklahoma State and end with a late-night showdown between former Pac-12 foes Utah and Arizona.

Kansas State -5 (-108) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
As mentioned in my Oklahoma State vs. Kansas State prediction, I’m buying a bounce-back showing from the Wildcats at home. This has usually been the best spot to back K-State under head coach Chris Klieman.
The Wildcats haven’t dropped consecutive games since November 2021. In their last nine games following a loss, they have an average margin of victory of 24.8 points in the following contest.
Kansas State has won by at least a touchdown in all nine of those games after a loss. The best sportsbooks have provided us with a gift with this spread.
Best odds: -108 via DraftKings | Implied probability: 51.92%
Kansas moneyline (-122) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I bet on the Jayhawks last week, citing that they have been unlucky and have inexplicably blown games. They then surrendered a double-digit lead in the fourth quarter of their 32-28 road loss to West Virginia.
Kansas has lost three in a row, falling to 1-3 on the year. But this team continues to put itself in a position to win games. According to SP+, Kansas had a postgame win expectancy of 86.6% in its home loss to UNLV and 57.7% in its loss to Illinois.
The market believes this is the week for KU’s first FBS victory against TCU, pushing the spread from -1.5 to -2.5 across our best sports betting apps. I like betting Kansas’ moneyline value at -125 or better instead.
Best odds: -122 via FanDuel | Implied probability: 54.95%
Texas Tech -2.5 (-110) ⭐⭐⭐
It’s funny how life works. I was not a fan of Texas Tech last year when the market rated this team as a Big 12 contender, but I’ve found myself betting on the Red Raiders more this season following their 7-6 campaign.
The market has pushed this spread from 3.5 to 2.5 in favor of Cincinnati, creating a buy point for me now that it’s below a key number. The Red Raiders have only lost two home games since November 2022, with those defeats coming at the hands of Oregon and Kansas State.
Cincinnati is off to a 3-1 start to the season, but the defense has benefitted from leading the country in starting field position. The Bearcats’ three wins have been against Towson, Miami (OH), and a one-win Houston team.
Consider me skeptical that Cincinnati is ready for the challenge in Lubbock this weekend.
Best odds: -110 via BetMGM | Implied probability: 52.38%
