#178Finishing up with this.
Kvitova-Robson Over 21 [-115]
Made my point elsewhere that both of these girls can absolutely ball when they're on, but they are very inconsistent. You saw that with Kvitova in her opener. Robson has proven the big stage isn't too much for her and I think she'll fancy herself a chance with Kvitova still not anywhere near top form. Wouldn't be surprised to see three sets in this one and 21 isn't impossible in two obviously.Comment -

#183I didn't like that match. Safarova's not really in great form. Jovanovski is fully capable of winning I think. Well I'll take that push with Ram. Thought it was dead after he go blown out in the 2nd and fought off some break points in the 3rd. 1-1-1 with the two totals to finish the night.
Expecting to start another Open Parlay tomorrow.Comment -

#185Open Parlay #1 [7 Slots]
Slot 1: [R1] Malisse -510
Slot 2: [R1] Querrey -1200
Slot 3: [R1] Kuznetsova -460
Slot 4: [R1] Tomic -1400
Slot 5: [R1] Kohlschreiber -820
Slot 6: [R1] Doubles: Bryans -750
Slot 7: [R1] Doubles: Marrero-Verdasco -420
The last selection makes the value of this parlay [+166]. Their opponents, Bautista-Agut/F.Lopez are +300. I'm going .33 units on them for the hedge. That breaks me about even off this if the dogs spring the upset and keeps the parlay a healthy +133 if Marrero-Verdasco win.
+133
Day 4
Seppi-Istomin Under 40.5 [-120]
No big breakdown here. My feeling simply is that there will be some service breaks in this one. Istomin is usually a roller coaster of activity from set to set. Seppi has been solid to start the year, so I think he'll put some pressure on Istomin's serve - while Istomin could do the same against Seppi if his own serve is holding up.
Duckworth-Kavcic Over 39 [-110]
Duckworth will have to show his bounce back ability after the five set win over Mitchell, but he certainly looked strong enough closing the match out. For Duckworth, the consistency was not there all match - but he controlled things more than not against Mitchell. He showed a solid serve which continues from the pre-AO prep. Kavic blew away Bellucci in straights. Most people would have. Kavcic is really not a bad player. He's shown good ability on this surface and was playing solid tennis most of 2012 on his more preferred surface of clay before a back problem slowed him. I think the Aussie fans will help push Duckworth if he lacks energy as this will be on a smaller court, so I think this will be competitive.
Ram +8 [-120]
Not holding any misconception that Ram will be a major threat to Cilic overall in this match, but he has a serve that can keep him deep into sets when it is working effectively. Given the weather, there could also be less chance that either wants to engage in longer rallies - so service holds could come quick. Cilic looked good in his opener, but there were break opps on his serve -11, he saved all 11. He beat Matosevic by exactly eight games in three sets. I think Ram has an opportunity to do the same.
[PUSH]
Del Potro-Becker Under 29 [-120]
Delpo was dominant in his opener against Mannarino who had been very hot, albeit on the Challenger Level. Becker isn't who normally holds up against the elite without maintaining a wicked serve throughout the match. I don't know that he'll be anywhere near consistent enough to stick with Del Potro. I think if Del Potro starts quick and gets into his serve early, the ball will roll in his favor and he'll finish Becker in straights.
#187May have more later, these to start.
Day 5
Ivanovic-Jankovic Over 21 [-112]
This figures to be a competitive match between two familiar foes. Both struggled in their 2nd round matches. Serve figures to be a big deal in this one with both at times really having issues with holds. Jankovic is still one of the best defenders/returners on tour, so she will force Ivanovic to amp up her game. Ivanovic figures to have opportunities against JJ's wonky serve. I can see multiple breaks and a rollercoaster match back and forth. Could go three, but even in two this may have a shot.
Zheng +140
Zheng draws Goerges. Something in her quirky game has given Goerges fits the two prior meetings with Zheng winning both. Those happened a bit ago, so while Goerges has improved as a player - this surface is still not the best for her. Meanwhile, Zheng seems to pull the rabbit out of the hat @ Melbourne more often than not. Stosur donated the match to her last round, but she was there to take it. Zheng is one of the more adept WTA players at converting break opps and it's a good thing with her own serve not the strongest. Goerges will need to avoid the perils of break points on her own serve to inspire confidence. When she is in a groove with her serve and not offering many opportunities, she can be tough. Whatever it is that brings out Zheng's best results in Australia, I'll take a shot with that mojo.
Berdych-Melzer Under 32 [-116]
Berdych has a stellar record vs. lefties, so I don't think he'll me mesmerized by the change in games from his last opponent to Melzer. Melzer played a tough five setter against Bautista-Agut in the 2nd. He was good on the big points and will have to be better today to keep pace with Berdych. Berdych will need to tighten up his serve a tad as he's been broken at least once in each match. Still, Melzer has not matched up well with the top tier guys on this surface lately and has trouble handling the power players. I think if Berdych gets into his serve early, Melzer will find himself having to fend off break points & Berdych will have the chances to turn the sets to his advantage and work them in favor of this finishing under.Comment -

#191I think the price would have been larger if Verdasco hadn't crushed Malisse. There will be the familiarity of playing just a few weeks ago at the Hopman Cup. I think if Anderson serves well, Verdasco has to play some of his best tennis to win.Comment -

#192Nishikori-Donskoy Over 32.5 [-120]
Donskoy may have signaled his arrival to the rest of the tennis world with a win over countryman Mikhail Youzhny. Donskoy has been ripping up the Challenger Circuit for the last year, but had not been in the main draw at a Slam until now. He's still green on this surface, but he's got some pretty sweet pop on his serve when it's working. Youzhny is a solid returner, so only being broken twice in five sets will be a boost to his confidence against Nishikori. Nishikori will offer more of an athletic challenge as he certainly is quicker than Youzhny. Nishikori wasn't terribly clean against Berlocq, but won going away. The knee isn't a major issue it appears, but it would be interesting to see how he responds to a grueling match. I think Donskoy has the skill to win a set in this one and even in three, this could conceivably get done - although I think it would be tough.Comment -

#197What a rollercoaster indeed. Ivanovic had just broken to 5-2 and was serving for the set, lost 13 straight points and it was 5-5 40-0 to Jankovic. Then Ivanovic breaks again. Jankovic had 3 break points but Iva held. Phew, had her to win the first set. Was about to explodeComment -

#202Just kind of tracked her through qualis. She seems like a good fighter and I thought the draw in her section lent itself to an outsider making some noise. She might get killed, but I didn't see anyone in this draw as playing the sort of tennis that was top notch enough to justify these sort of numbers. We'll see if I know Russian Mob rules maybe too.Comment -
