#218Damn it Donskoy. Guy is outta gas I guess. Broken at love and no chance for the over. Been a shit miss night. Zheng choked. Jankovic couldn't hold, so settled for a push. Now Donskoy can't hold. If the Berdych total hits, I'd feel pretty good considering the rest of the night.Comment -

#224That Sharapova match is a no-bet to me. I considered Venus +5, but realistically we have no idea where she really is right now. She has not played anyone near Sharapova's level. That makes it a huge guess as to what happens and if we're trying to make money, eliminating the guess work is what we want to do.Comment -

#234May have more later, these to start.
Day 5
Ivanovic-Jankovic Over 21 [-112]
This figures to be a competitive match between two familiar foes. Both struggled in their 2nd round matches. Serve figures to be a big deal in this one with both at times really having issues with holds. Jankovic is still one of the best defenders/returners on tour, so she will force Ivanovic to amp up her game. Ivanovic figures to have opportunities against JJ's wonky serve. I can see multiple breaks and a rollercoaster match back and forth. Could go three, but even in two this may have a shot.
[PUSH]
Zheng +140
Zheng draws Goerges. Something in her quirky game has given Goerges fits the two prior meetings with Zheng winning both. Those happened a bit ago, so while Goerges has improved as a player - this surface is still not the best for her. Meanwhile, Zheng seems to pull the rabbit out of the hat @ Melbourne more often than not. Stosur donated the match to her last round, but she was there to take it. Zheng is one of the more adept WTA players at converting break opps and it's a good thing with her own serve not the strongest. Goerges will need to avoid the perils of break points on her own serve to inspire confidence. When she is in a groove with her serve and not offering many opportunities, she can be tough. Whatever it is that brings out Zheng's best results in Australia, I'll take a shot with that mojo.
Berdych-Melzer Under 32 [-116]
Berdych has a stellar record vs. lefties, so I don't think he'll me mesmerized by the change in games from his last opponent to Melzer. Melzer played a tough five setter against Bautista-Agut in the 2nd. He was good on the big points and will have to be better today to keep pace with Berdych. Berdych will need to tighten up his serve a tad as he's been broken at least once in each match. Still, Melzer has not matched up well with the top tier guys on this surface lately and has trouble handling the power players. I think if Berdych gets into his serve early, Melzer will find himself having to fend off break points & Berdych will have the chances to turn the sets to his advantage and work them in favor of this finishing under.
Nishikori-Donskoy Over 32.5 [-120]
Donskoy may have signaled his arrival to the rest of the tennis world with a win over countryman Mikhail Youzhny. Donskoy has been ripping up the Challenger Circuit for the last year, but had not been in the main draw at a Slam until now. He's still green on this surface, but he's got some pretty sweet pop on his serve when it's working. Youzhny is a solid returner, so only being broken twice in five sets will be a boost to his confidence against Nishikori. Nishikori will offer more of an athletic challenge as he certainly is quicker than Youzhny. Nishikori wasn't terribly clean against Berlocq, but won going away. The knee isn't a major issue it appears, but it would be interesting to see how he responds to a grueling match. I think Donskoy has the skill to win a set in this one and even in three, this could conceivably get done - although I think it would be tough.

#235eagles, what do you think about simon vs. monfils? monfils looks out of shape and his ground game looks poor, but i am not a big supporter of simon either. i really wish monfils was playing someone else, anyone else. simon leads in h2h 3-1. i should probably stay away but i really think monfils is happy to just have made it this far and might quit mentally.Comment -

#236Ok guys, if anyone's doing live betting or wants me to do some spying on the warm up courts, these are the matches I'll be in and out of today: Vesnina/Vinci, Tsonga/Kavcic, Williams sisters doubles, Kuzzy/Navarro, Seppi/Cilic, Stephens/Robson, Date-Krumm/Jovanovski, Dodig/Gasquet, Raonic/Kohli (DEFINITE!!!!!). I'm not going to bother watching Aza, Serena/Morita or Berankis/Murray as I think those will all be duds even though they're in Rod Laver. And my pass doesn't get me into Hisense so those matches are out. Will probably come home for Tomic/Fed as the crowd will be unbearable and I'd rather hear Lleyton commentate and bitch with you guys anyway. Good luck with your bets today EP and everyone!Comment -

#241Ok cool. He's the 3rd match on Rod Laver so I should definitely be able to find him hitting before. It's crazy that all the matches I want to see not one of them is on centre court. Feel sorry for people who shelled out $150+ to watch those ones in the day session. Even the night session with Tomic/Fed... after that they have Dellacqua playing doubles. I'd be pissed.Comment -

#242Day 6
Wickmayer +180
Wickmayer is one of the girls I picked up and followed early this season in Auckland. She trained very hard to prep for the season, seven tough weeks to try and turn it around after a tough season in 2012. Dividends were good in Auckland. She made the final and wasn't embarrassed in a 6-4, 6-4 finals loss to Radwanska. Kirilenko has been steady through two rounds, although as noted last round against Peng - she took advantage of a player who wilted terribly in the heat and was just an emotional mess if you saw her presser afterwards. I think Wickmayer poses a stiff challenge. She'll need to be on-point with her serve and take advantage of any openings Kirilenko gives her off her serve, but if she plays those big points well - she's shown some toughness. She's also playing perhaps with some extra purpose. Her grandfather passed away before her 1st rounder her and she dedicated the win to him. It did not seem to overly play with her emotions in round two, so I don't think it's a distraction - perhaps more of a motivator.
Jovanovski +105
Two ladies who may not have been slotted for this third round meet with Date-Krumm providing the opposition. Date-Krumm took full advantage of an ill-prepared Nadia Petrova in the 1st round, but did not look overly convincing against Peer last round. I thought Jovanovski showed good improvement from her opener in beating Safarova last round in a tight match. That should bode well for her, especially if her serve maintains some consistency.
Stephens-Robson Over 21 [-135]
Expecting another competitive battle like we saw between the two in Hobart. Robson needs to show some more consistency, but since it's big for both seeking a 4th round apperance - I think nerves will make this close.
Simon -165
Of course you never know which version of Monfils shows up, but I think this match-up is tough for him. Simon is going to keep pushing the ball back in play and either challenge Monfils to construct points or make errors going for winners. Monfils admitted after his last match to feeling fatigued and that being a big point on the double fault issues. Simon is not someone you want to go play when you either feel tired or are coming off a demanding match. Monfils may raise his level and outperform Simon, but if he doesn't start quick and faces the prospect of having to rally in this match - his effort level may be lacking.
Seppi-Cilic Over 39.5 [-125]
Fancying a good quality match between these two. Seppi has impressed with an improved serve and he looks as fit as he has maybe ever been. Cilic's serve has been unbreakable through two rounds, so he figures to be able to hold deep into sets as well.Last edited by EaglesPhan36; 01-18-13, 05:47 PM.Comment -
