I haven't taken the time to read through the whole thread but.....have you tried swimming? I'm telling you man, there aren't too many exercises out there that will shed pounds off as fast as swimming laps HARD. Don't even worry about proper form, just go until exhaustion and kick your ass every time. If you have bad knees then swimming would be ideal imo.

#353Honest answers for ya chem.
-do you feel like you went at it harder that first week? Yes.
like, did you 'cheat' once or twice more this week than last? After we got home from the bar I had a hotdog instead of not eating/having a small handful of almonds or a piece of fruit.
i'm not implying you did, but don't start to use the word 'plateau' as an excuse. Deal.
-time to start adding in exercise? I belong to a gym and have been going at least 3 times a week.Comment -

#354EasyHustlin,
I absolutely LOVE swimming. I may not attract all the girls around the pool/lake but I LOOOVE swimming.
I don't have anywhere to swim right now though which is a big problem.
bballs84,
Thank you so much man.

#361way to go, creature. keep it up.
i read that eating 3 meals with 3 food groups and 3 snacks with 2 food groups per day sends a message to your brain that nutrients are plentiful, which in turn causes your body to burn more fat. 1 or 2 meals a day without variety causes fat retention.

#363Good job man. No shame in losing 3.5 pounds in one week. Just keep waging war against the fat and don't worry about plateauing, you've got along ways to go yet for that. Have a good weekComment -

#372It sucks, but at the same time is an awful time to start changing my life. With how bad of an alcoholic I used to be it's SO hard essentially minimizing/quitting alcohol consumption when I JUST TURNED 21 a few months ago. But hey, what better way to test yourself than to throw yourself in shark infested waters and say get to land buddy.
Your right opie, it's going to be one hell of a test. The fourth is one of my absolute favorite holidays. Food, friends, drinks, family, FIREWORKS. Not much better than that in life. However, it's a death sentence to someone on a diet or someone trying to minimize their alcohol consumption.
I will give you guys an update on how it ends up. But the true test is what happens next Wednesday, there's no lying there.
Have a great day guys.Comment -

You ever heard the saying that "the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago"?

#376Good job man. 3.5 pounds in week 2 is solid. The first week is always the biggest loss. Changing your diet and changing your habits throughout each day shocks your body, plus you lose a lot of water weight, but any loss is a good loss when it comes to losing weight so don't let it discourage you. Keep it up man, it takes time to get where you want to be!Comment -

#377The only good loss is the loss of fat. Any lean body weight lost, water included, is not a good loss. what is good is that he is actively trying to improve his health through diet and exercise and that he feels better for it. But fukk the scale, it lies. The best measurement tools are fat calipers and the mirror.Comment -

#378eating right and exercising will always provoke positive losses. I could say losing a limb is negative weight loss too, but I am going to be more encouraging and assume he is doing the proper things to lose weight the right way.Comment -

#383Also, you shouldn't be disappointed with the 3.5 pounds in week 2. It only gets harder as you go, so give yourself credit. The 1st 10 pounds will be the easiest. It will get much tougher after that. If you have the resolve though, you'll still be able to do it. After you get to 10-15 pounds, you should still be happy with losing 2 in a week, so long as you keep losing. Just don't give up.Comment -
