We just had an islamic terrorrist attack in Copenhagen. After the attack the friends of the terrorist all hailed him stating that they understood his actions and condoned them, and his funeral was attended by 600-700 people.

I can assure you that if Brevik was killed in his attacks, his funeral would have been a small private one, and you wouldnt find many christians ( or other ) people who condoned his attacks.

My condolences to the horrible attack in your country. I may not have been clear about it earlier, but I don't ignore the connection between the interpretation of a faith and it's actions. I was just pointing out that when you combine the following

- out dated social attitudes
- witness to daily violence
- the feeling (real or imagined) of disenfranchisement
- poverty
- religious leaders promising a better afterlife

Mixed with ones own story - you have disaster. Banning religion wouldn't solve the issue. You'll still have groups who are oppressed etc.

I see your point. But counting how many people attend a funeral doesn't change the fact he considered himself Christian and (by some accounts) doing gods work (much like Eric Rudolph). You can however argue that it's not a pattern and not openly encouraged by known public zealots. With that being said, it's our own fault for giving a megaphone to nutcases and helping them build their social image.

Splitting hairs over mourners like that is tantamount to claiming that because someone has goes to a minor league baseball game (or is a fan of a team relegated down) - that somehow they aren't "really" into the sport, because their squad doesn't have the numbers.

He chose the date of his attack (July 29) for a very specific reason (as outlined in his manifesto) - again, doesn't make him a Christian by maybe your definition, but is there a definitive definition that applies to ALL people of one faith?

Science doesn't work like a religion, where you can pick and choose data and revise interpretations to try to maintain the illusion of 100% accuracy...science is accurate by it's very nature, because it's been upheld and proven. Sure, people can (and do) claim particular aspects of science are lies, but their claims thankfully have no effect on reality, and science continues to be observably and provably true regardless of their acceptance of it. Funny thing is most sciences are so interconnected, that for a person to remain consistent, rejecting one branch of science should lead to a rejection of everything tied to and derived from it...but most just cherry-pick data, or (like Ken Hamm) simply change their mind once the proof is overwhelming, and claim that it works exactly the way science says it does, but only because God made it that way 6,000 years ago

The point is everything the scientific community spews out, is not science, it's views and beliefs also. Kent Hovind taught real science, for what it is, some don't want to except that. Planes flying, boats moving, medicine, have nothing to do with evolution, cloning, breaking down genetic codes, alchemy, transhumanism, and this type of thing... There's a line there, that some without God don't mind breaking, this is why we are eating gmo foods, because people think " the science " is right. They've crossed the line...


As for the morals, most of your "moral outrage" here seems to be directed at things that aren't widespread or that aren't even possible outside of fiction.
