Always going to be some form of the Bible in society. Thou shall not steal. Thou shall not kill. Adultery is something that hurts other people, depending on the circumstances. People get hurt by gossip, so many people frown against it. That's just 4 of the commandments, which is a very small portion of the Bible. No matter how you dice it, a lot of the principles, our society lives by, are in the Bible. Can't run away from it. Why are these values sewn into us? The majority of this country were Bible thumpers, if only 100 years ago. Hell, when I was in grade school 40 years ago, no one would even fathom talking against God in casual conversation. I think that's pretty much why I'm so sewn into my faith. I've had the opportunity to see how less hectic, and over the top, life was when God was still in the forefront, and I like what I saw. That's why I live in Tennessee. We don't have the Gideons come to my kids' schools anymore, but I like that we can still say prayers before sporting events, instead of a moment of silence. I like that I can freely talk about the Lord at work, and don't have to worry about someone getting offended. There's still craziness, and disruption in this state, but it still suits the needs for what I believe spiritually.

im in tennessee too... there are over a dozen churches in a 5 mile radius of my house... crazy... such a money maker... but i agree, there are still a ton of old fashioned religious views that still linger in the southern states..they are fighting change
if you care to look it up, i went to mid/high school at a small private school outside of the city... the school came under fire a few years ago because it was the first to outright ban gay kids from attending... kicked a kid out and suspended others for even talking about homosexuality... im embarrassed to have went there... so hypocritical and self righteous... i guess ive never seen the harm in gays... as long as people leave each other alone... ive kept in touch with a few ex gf's from those days, but even though my own niece and nephew go there, i dont care to ever attend any function there... i know a private school has the right to allow whoever they choose to attend, but kicking a kid out of school, in the middle of the year, because he liked boys instead of girls, is some bogus whoreshit..... its not like he was caught with another kid or anything...he didnt do anything wrong, they just went all holy roller on him...like the school board people dont sin on a daily basis...hypocrites ... small town, uneducated, country as fukk morals...disgraceful, imo.Comment -
