⚽ England vs. Ghana Prediction: World Cup Picks & Best Bets (June 23)
Last Updated: June 23, 2026 8:25 AM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
I'm backing the Three Lions to win and keep a clean sheet in my England vs. Ghana prediction. England are the decisive -434 betting favorite, and I expect Thomas Tuchel's side to return to their defensive best against Ghana, the 65th-ranked team.
As part of our World Cup predictions, I'm also featuring a play on Harry Kane, who will surpass Gary Lineker as England's all-time goal-scoring leader at a World Cup with his next goal.

⚽ Who will win England vs. Ghana?
England has one of the best collective offenses in the tournament, as shown by bagging four against Croatia in the opener. Ghana won for the first time in seven matches, beating Panama 1-0.
But I don't think Ghana has the defensive quality to keep England at bay, and England will be much better defensively than they were against Croatia.
Score prediction: England 3-0 Ghana
💵 My best bet: England ML and Ghana not to score (-138)
England made a couple of uncharacteristic defensive blunders against Croatia, but I expect Tuchel's team to get back to its defensive best.
England were the only team in Europe not to concede a goal in qualifying, going eight matches without being breached.
And few teams are as good going forward, with 21 goals in their previous seven World Cup group matches. Allowing 13 goals in the previous seven matches, Ghana's defense isn't top-class by any stretch.

Harry Kane, F, England (-145)
Harry Kane scored two goals against Croatia, making it 10 in 12 World Cup matches. He's one away from breaking Lineker's record for the most as an Englishman.
He scored nine goals in eight qualifiers and bagged an outrageous 61 goals in 51 matches with Bayern Munich last season. Kane takes the team's penalties, and there's a decent chance the ref will point to the spot on Tuesday.
England's captain is the best striker in the world because of his goal-scoring output, and I expect him to get a few chances against a slightly inferior defense. That's a perfect recipe for another goal from England's all time record holder.
Best England vs. Ghana goal-scorer pick: Harry Kane (-145 via FanDuel)

🥅 Will both teams score in England vs. Ghana?
England kept a clean sheet in 13 of their previous 17 matches, and I don't expect any lapses from their defense in this one. Usually one of the most organized and disciplined rearguards, England will be back to its stingy best.
John Stones was slightly off the pace in the opener, and he'll be better after getting that one out of his system.
Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: No (-192 via BetMGM)
