Euro Odds 2028: France and Spain Co-Favorites to Claim European Crown

Color us all shocked: Spain and France are serving as co-favorites by the Euro odds for the 2028 tournament. Spain is fresh off winning the World Cup and are the defending Euro champs; France came through the World Cup in fourth, but that finish was largely considered a disappointment, and they were tournament favorites until they were eliminated.

Twenty-four teams will compete at nine venues across eight host cities in England, the Republic of Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Action will get underway on June 9, 2028, and run until July 9, 2028.

This one isn't shocking. Spain is absolutely loaded with young talent, Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal, and Pau Cubaris to name a few, are fresh off winning the World Cup, and claimed the 2024 Euro. They have an incredible midfield with Rodi and Dani Olmo, and their defenders and goalkeeper Unai Simon just set a World Cup shutout record. 

With little change expected in the roster over the next two years, this squad will continue to display their suffocating press to continue to control play into the 2028 Euro.

France (+400)

For much of the World Cup, France was listed as the favorite. The attacking force, including (but not limited to), Kylian Mbappe, Michael Olise, and Bradley Barcola, are a threat against any opponent. And with a new bench boss in Zinedine Zidane, the team is likely to adapt a more fluid, explosive attacking system than we're used to seeing under Didier Deschamps.

There's so much elite talent on this roster through the forwards and midfield, and stars William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano anchoring the backline, that this squad can compete with anyone in the world. The big question will be how the tactical changes that Zidane implements will be adapted to, but if the squad picks up quickly (as one would expect), then the sky is the limit.

England (+450)

England fans were fully convinced that "it was coming home" this year at the World Cup, and probably with good reason. England finished third - their best finish on the World Stage since they won it in 1966 - and nearly reached the final before a heartbreaking collapse against Argentina.

Core stars like Jude Bellingham, Bukayo Saka, and Declan Rice, will be well within their prime years for this tournament. This team needs some improvement on the defensive side of the ball, needs young defenders to make the next step, but there is hope.

England finished second in each of the last two Euros, showing they can hang with the continent's best. Overcoming the heartache of the World Cup will be a top goal of Thomas Tuchel and co., and there's plenty of reason to believe they could break through.
