The Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles face off on Monday Night Football after starting their seasons in different fashions. According to the NFL Week 2 odds, Philadelphia is a clear favorite.

Based on the Monday Night Football odds, the Falcons vs. Eagles early leans reflect their opening games. The Eagles took care of business in Brazil, though the team still had some glaring deficiencies reminiscent of last season’s end-of-year debacle. Meanwhile, the Falcons only managed 10 points in Kirk Cousins’ debut.

The Eagles had to travel nearly 5,000 miles to play their first game. They were rewarded with an extra day of rest. Will it matter, or will the Falcons’ offense wake up against a weak secondary?

The Eagles are heavily favored in this game, and rightfully so.

The Falcons only managed 226 total yards in their season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they turned the ball over three times. Throwing the Eagles into a parlay makes sense, but there is nothing of interest when it comes to a possible underdog pick or betting the Eagles solo.

Spread

This is where things get interesting. The Eagles are favored by 6.5 at our best sports betting sites, but Despite 81% of bettors backing the Eagles, the spread has stayed below the key number of seven.

Is this a trap being laid by oddsmakers?

The Falcons were terrible offensively last week, but they also didn’t allow a touchdown. This number is likely to move to seven because of the overwhelming support the Eagles are seeing. But how long sportsbooks hold off on moving the number will be very telling.

Over/Under

These two teams played very different games in Week 1.

The Falcons were part of a contest that totaled just 28 points, while the Eagles were part of a matchup that saw both teams score at least 29.

With this being a primetime game and the Eagles scoring so many points in Week 1, look for this number to go up before kickoff. That being said, it’s unlikely to go higher than 48.5.

Don’t bet this now because the spread will move to 7 points before kickoff. However, the Falcons are going to keep this close enough to cover the spread. Cousins played miserably in his Falcons’ debut, but he will have a much easier time against the Eagle’s secondary this week.

The Eagles allowed Jordan Love to throw for 260 yards, and if Love had been at the top of his game, he’d have easily gone for 300. He missed several open throws that Cousins can take advantage of now that he’s back in the swing of the NFL season.

This is a primetime game, and the public loves the Eagles. There is no way that oddsmakers are making such an obvious mistake here. The Falcons’ bend-but-don’t-break defense will keep the Eagles out of the end zone for most of the game, as the Eagles win by a field goal.
