⚾ Tigers vs. Braves Win Probability: Who Will Win Today’s MLB Game? (April 28)
Last Updated: April 28, 2026 4:28 PM EDT • 4 minute read X Social Google News Link
The Atlanta Braves field one of MLB's most imposing offenses, and tonight the Detroit Tigers' own lineup that's beginning to come alive will try to keep pace.
The Tigers vs. Braves win probability from the prediction market apps gives the mighty Atlanta side the edge in what's projected to be a narrow battle, with the Braves receiving a 52% win probability. Central to that scrap will be two pitchers in Casey Mize and Martin Perez who have given up little thus far.

The Braves are a runaway train in every sense, while the Tigers are doing the classic water treading act early in the season.
Detroit is hovering just above .500 at 15-14, and the Tigers are staying level despite a capable offense that really hasn't clicked yet to reach a next level. The Tigers sit 14th in home runs and tied for 11th in overall run production. But there are some key vital signs, and most notably a sixth-ranked team OPS of .750.
They'll try to outmuscle the Braves and their wagon on fire, an offensive unit that rests among the top three in runs, home runs, and OPS. Offense could be at a premium tonight generally though given the Mize vs. Perez starting pitching duel.
Mize is finally beginning to blossom after being a prized prospect for so long. His K/9 has risen from 8.4 last year to 10.0 now. Meanwhile, Perez has been thriving too, with his ERA falling from 3.54 last year to 2.70 now. But are there signs of regression looming for him?
The win probabilities in this market have been relatively steady so far amid just over $225,000 in trading, with the Braves the favorites and peaking briefly at 61% before falling back down to 53%.
My prediction: Tigers win. Detroit can earn the upset if its lefty sluggers come through. The Tigers aren't far removed from sitting second last year with a .774 OPS against southpaws like Perez, who's allowing a 40.6 hard-hit rate.

💣 Who will hit a home run in Tigers vs. Braves?
Braves sluggers predictably dominate this market that's received just over $4,200 in volume thus far. The team has hit the third-most homers this season in MLB (40), which has propelled Atlanta toward winning 10 of its last 12 games.
Matt Olson leads the way while receiving a 20% probability to go deep, with his teammate Ronald Acuna Jr. in second and not far behind at 17%.
Olson brings some serious thump from the left side while sitting on eight homers thus far, three of which have come over Atlanta's last seven games during a sizzling run with five extra-base hits total. His expected slugging percentage (.580) and barrel percentage (17.6%) both sit in the 94th percentile or higher leaguewide, according to Baseball Savant.
However, Mize has been tough on lefties this year while producing a .325 OPS against.
My prediction: Acuna to hit a home run. Acuna is off to a tough start, but righties fare much better against Mize while posting a 1.071 OPS. For more home run analysis, see the rest of our home run predictions today.
⚾ Will there be a run in the first inning of Tigers vs. Braves?
The chances of a run in the first inning have been plummeting since this market opened at 58%. The probability fell all the way down to 47% before rebounding somewhat to 50%.
The two starting pitchers involved have combined to log 10 starts thus far, and they've each put up one outlier contest with four-plus earned runs allowed. The others have featured two runs or fewer, including three shutouts.
So despite potential flaws from each starter, Mize and Perez seem poised to do their part to pitch a scoreless first frame long before fatigue potentially sets in later. However, Mize faces the greater challenge while trying to navigate a Braves lineup that's made it one of the league's strongest YRFI teams.
The Braves are tied for MLB's third-best YRFI mark at 18-11. But they're more dangerous in that regard away from home and the cavernous confines of Truist Park. The Braves hold only a 7-8 YRFI record at home, and the Tigers boast the sixth-best NRFI record at 17-12.
My prediction: No run in the first inning. Someone like Olson can break through later, but there's been little damage against either starter. Mize squares of against the more imposing lineup, and he hasn't allowed a first-inning run yet.
