š° Best NRFI bets today (Wednesday, July 8)
Blue Jays vs. Giants NRFI (-190) - 3:45 p.m. ET
- Dylan Cease (2.79 ERA) vs. Logan Webb (3.66 ERA)
- NRFI records: Blue Jays (44-48) vs. Giants (48-43)
This one is pretty self-explanatory - it's the best pitching matchup on the slate, and gives us a matinee game to lock in to. The sample size on Cease isn't too bad, either, who's limited this Giants team to a .247 xBA across 100 plate appearances against him. Luis Arraez and Willy Adames both own a .255 xBA or worse against the Cy Young contender, which should be enough to get us our three outs. We're trusting Webb on the other side - George Springer (3-for-9) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (2-for-9) don't have the numbers to strike enough fear in me in the first frame.

Yankees vs. Rays NRFI (-115) - 6:40 p.m. ET
- Gerrit Cole (4.01 ERA) vs. Shane McClanahan (3.05 ERA)
- NRFI records: Yankees (42-49) vs. Rays (47-45)
Cole hasn't had the best season in the world, according to his standards, but I still like him in this spot. He's limiting this Rays offense to a .295 xwOBA, which includes Junior Caminero and Jonathan Aranda, who are both hitless against him in their career. We're rocking with McClanahan on the other side, who's dominated the Yankees (.221 xBA) over a small sample size (20 plate appearances). Paul Goldschmidt, Jazz Chisholm, and Trent Grisham are all hitless against him lifetime.

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.
A NRFI (No Run First Inning) bet carries high variance, meaning success requires a disciplined, daily dive into the data. Before placing a wager, run through a strict checklist: analyze how the starting pitcher matches up against the top three hitters in the lineup, track underlying metrics like strikeout rates (K%) and expected batting averages (xBA), and review recent team-specific first-inning scoring trends. Because a single mistake or lucky hit can ruin the bet instantly, always use this daily routine to guide your wagers and scale your unit sizing accordingly to protect your bankroll.
