The Milwaukee Brewers stayed unbeaten at home this postseason with a nail-biting one-run victory over the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 1, but my Rays vs. Brewers prediction expects Tampa Bay to jump out to an early lead tonight, led by a dominant outing from Drew Rasmussen.

Opposing Rasmussen is Logan Henderson, and I'm also betting on a Rays slugger that was responsible for three of the team's seven hits in Game 1 to go yard with my last MLB pick of the day. I'm looking to build off the momentum of four straight best-bet cashes, including the Under in Game 1.

First pitch from American Family Field is set for 8 p.m. ET tonight (FOX). The Brewers are -125 betting favorites.

Rays vs. Brewers prediction & best bet

Rays F5 ML (+100)

Drew Rasmussen is the first pitcher in franchise history to record multiple starts of 7+ innings pitched and allow one run or fewer in a single postseason.

Rasmussen is also a big reason the Rays seemingly had a big advantage over the Brewers among their top three starting pitchers entering the series.

Prior to Game 1, Milwaukee’s trio of Misiorowski, Henderson and Gasser combined for a 2.39 ERA and 4.21 xERA in 26.1 postseason innings, with a 3.33 FIP, 20.2% strikeout rate, and 1.18 WHIP. Meanwhile, Rasmussen, Peralta, and Martinez pitched to a 1.54 ERA and 3.79 xERA over 46.2 innings, with a 3.08 FIP, 22.9% strikeout rate, and 0.96 WHIP.

📡 SBR Edge: An impressive streak under Rasmussen

Tampa Bay is 14-1 in Drew Rasmussen's last 15 starts. He has made 11 quality starts in that span, and opponents scored one or fewer runs in nine of the 13 games that finished in nine innings.

Best Rays vs. Brewers player prop bet

Drew Rasmussen Under 1.5 earned runs (+110)

In 15 starts since the All-Star Break (including playoffs), the righty is 11-0 with a 1.73 ERA over 93.2 innings. He has limited opponents to a .184 opponents’ average and .474 OPS in that span.

Rasmussen’s elite changeup is a major reason for his sustained success. Through August, he used his changeup 16.7% of the time against left-handed hitters and 22.3% of the time in two-strike counts. But in Game 5 of the ALCS, he used it 33.8% of the time and 44.8% with two strikes, his highest overall usage and second-highest two-strike usage in a start this season.

That is significant because opponents are batting .158 (18-for-114) against his changeup this year. He has thrown 421 changeups without allowing an extra-base hit (the most-thrown pitch in the Majors with zero extra-base hits allowed), and opponents have struck out 39 times on the pitch with a 35.2% whiff rate overall.

Rays vs. Brewers home run prediction

Jonathan Aranda to hit a home run (+630)

The Brewers and Rays were the two teams that scored the lowest percentage of their runs via the home run in the regular season (32.1% and 34.4%, respectively). But with Rasmussen pitching to the fifth-lowest HR/9 rate (0.73) among qualified pitchers in the regular season, I’m taking a flier on a Rays slugger going deep.

Jonathan Aranda has the second highest slugging percentage on pitches out of the zone this season (.387). And after logging his fourth multi-hit game this postseason, he is now batting .316 with five RBI and a .790 OPS.

Logan Henderson allowed 10 of his 14 home runs to left-handed batters this season, which makes Aranda a great value play over righties Yandy Diaz and Junior Caminero.
