The Phillies being short underdogs in this spot doesn’t sit right with me. Ballpark Pal’s model gives them a 51.1% chance of victory, suggesting they should be slight favorites in Monday’s matchup.
It helps that Philadelphia has the pitching advantage. Left-hander Ranger Suarez is 12-6 with a 2.77 ERA this season. He’s posted consecutive scoreless starts entering this opener, tossing 12 innings against the New York Mets and Milwaukee Brewers. He’s only allowed one run in nearly a month.
However, our Mike Spector has Shohei Ohtani hitting a four-bagger as part of his best home run predictions today.
On the other side, Los Angeles is giving the ball to Emmet Sheehan for his 11th start of the season. He has a 3.32 ERA, but facing the Phillies' lineup (sixth in wRC+) is an entirely different challenge.
At this +105 price tag, I’ll back the Phillies for a $10.50 profit on a $10 bet.
