Heisman Trophy Odds 2025: Predictions, Ballot Picks & Best Bet to Win

As the college football season gets underway, there's a clear favorite atop the Heisman Trophy odds in Texas' Arch Manning. However, with little experience heading into his first season as the starter, the Longhorns trigger man may not be the best player to back with your college football picks.
Although Texas is among the top college football national championship odds contenders thanks to Manning, this looks like a wide-open Heisman Trophy odds race with so many star players leading teams atop the College Football Playoff odds.
Just like how the over 900 voters will fill out their three-man Heisman ballots for the Dec. 8 deadline, my Heisman Trophy predictions highlight my best bet for the season alongside the other players I think are most likely to be finalists in New York City.

β My Heisman Trophy pick for 2025
π Cade Klubnik (+950)

Of the three biggest Heisman favorites, Cade Klubnik is in the best position to actually win the dang thing. That's because Manning and Nussmeier play in a far more ferocious conference, and neither of them has the mobility we've seen recent Heisman winners bring to the field.
Meanwhile, Clemson has just three preseason AP top 25 teams on its schedule - LSU, SMU, and South Carolina - and only one of them hails from the ACC. The Tigers are by far the highest-ranked team in their conference by SP+ and play only one defense ranked in the top 20 (South Carolina). And Klubnik is one of the better running quarterbacks in the sport after finishing 12th in rushing among Power Four QBs last season (588).
The former blue-chip recruit is coming off a season in which he was third in the country in passing touchdowns (36), ninth in the Power Four in rushing TDs among QBs (7), and fifth in the country in big-time throws (28). It doesn't hurt his case that Clemson ranks No. 1 in college football in returning production after last season's College Football Playoff run.
Klubnik is throwing to one of the best wide receiver corps in college football - led by future pros Antonio Williams, Bryant Wesco Jr., and T.J. Moore - and playing behind an O-line full of All-ACC caliber players. Plus, this will be his third season in offensive coordinator Garrett Riley's system, a play-caller who managed to get Max Duggan to become a Heisman finalist.
There's no better Heisman bet than Klubnik as we enter the college football season.

π° My other best bets to win Heisman Trophy
π° Jeremiah Smith (+1200)

If he were eligible for the 2026 NFL Draft, Smith would likely be viewed as the No. 1 player in the class heading into the college football season. As an 18-year-old freshman, he was the best wide receiver in the country and helped carry Ohio State to a national title while finishing fourth in the nation in receiving yards (1,315) and second in receiving touchdowns (15).
Last season, he was the only player in the Power Four to pull down double-digit contested catches (12) and average more than 3.05 yards per route run (3.15). His encore could be even more impressive if his new starting QB, Julian Sayin, hits the ground running. But winning the Heisman as purely a wide receiver is a tall task; it's happened just three times ever (Travis Hunter also played cornerback, and Johnny Rodgers also played running back).

π LaNorris Sellers (+1800)

Not far behind LSU's Garrett Nussmeier based on the NFL draft odds to be the No. 1 pick, LaNorris Sellers has everything going for him from a narrative perspective heading into the season. The Gamecocks star is popping up in mock drafts as a top-five selection following a redshirt freshman season in which he nearly led South Carolina to the College Football Playoff.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound Sellers also helps his candidacy by being an electic runner - something past winners like Jayden Daniels, Kyler Murray, and Lamar Jackson all benefited from - having rushed for for 674 yards, seven scores, and forcing the sixth-most missed tackles among QBs (47) last season.
Sellers also has a live arm that pairs well with explosive pass catchers like Nyck Harbor and Jared Brown. The sophomore is the freakiest athlete at QB in the country and poised to put up video game numbers in 2025.
π DJ Lagway (+2000)

After he helped save Florida's season as a true freshman last year, there aren't many players in the country who'll have more pressure on them than DJ Lagway in 2025.
Gators fans' hopes and dreams of returning to glory are tied to Lagway building on a flashy first season in Gainesville, and everything is there for him to live up to the hype as long as he's healthy. Billy Napier's squad returns an electric receiver in Eugene Wilson III, adds a high-upside transfer in J. Michael Sturdivant (UCLA), and brings in freshman Dallas Wilson.
Those three give Lagway the toys to make big plays, and it doesn't hurt that he plays behind an offensive line with NFL talent (Austin Barber, Jake Slaughter). We've seen sophomores make massive leaps before to win the Heisman (Caleb Williams, Bryce Young), and Lagway is in good shape to be next after what he showed as a 19-year-old last season. The 6-foot-3, 247-pounder had the highest big-time throw rate (8.8%) among Power Four QBs (minimum 200 dropbacks) as a freshman.

π¦ Dante Moore (+2500)

Of the five players I'm locked in on as potential Heisman finalists this season, Dante Moore is by far my biggest swing. He threw just eight passes in his first season at Oregon last year while backing up Dillon Gabriel, and he was sporadic at best as a freshman at UCLA two seasons ago.
However, the Ducks have had a Heisman finalist in the Big Apple in each of the least two seasons with Gabriel last year and Bo Nix the year before. Stepping into one of the most stable situations in college football, Moore is poised to have a breakout season and live up to his billing as a former five-star recruit.
There were flashes with him as a frosh for the Bruins two years ago when he had the 10th-highest big-time throw rate in the Power Four as a freshman (6.4%). Now he steps into a Will Stein offense that has proven to make Heisman finalists. But Moore will need for Dakorien Moore and Kenyon Sadiq to step up with star wideout Evan Stewart sidelined for most if not all of the 2025 season.
