man, if you go to a buddy's 21st celebration and don't have a drink...a) you're far more dedicated than most, b) you're kinda shady, c) you're far more dedicated than most, d) you're kinda shady.

couple jack and diet's won't kill you. walk another mile the next few days.

i love how you're using this site to motivate you to change your life, you're young and it can still happen at your age. it hasn't yet caused me to stop drinking and eating chicken wings, but it's impressive. thing is, i still am doubtful that you'll weigh less at 32 in 10 years than you do now. still feels like a short term 'i better not **** up in front of sbr' kinda thing.

i've said before, if you lived next door to me i think we'd be pretty good friends, so i feel like i can criticize a bit w/o being called out on video for being a hater, and i am 100% rooting for you. and last week watching your face/reaction to your weight brought a smile to my face. that said, i just hope that if/when progress slows you don't end up becoming discouraged.

what is the target weight for tomorrow?

You're right Cap, I apologize. (However, reading a book never hurt anyone.)

      @ chem.

You know that thought had crossed my mind to be honest.
Like I said I want to be 100% honest with all of you 100% of the time.
I didn't do so hot this week...I really didn't and I know that.
I'm pretty ashamed and I know the reason is because there is no "BET" in place for the short term.
However, crazily enough, after seeing what WVU said that got me pumped up like crazy.
The last 2 days I pounded the gym and was in there twice a day. (Before that I didn't go to the gym once this week. )
I didn't quit my diet by any means...but I just didn't get in the gym.
It's really quite sad that I can't motivate myself enough right now to get into the gym every day even if there is no incentive.

Like I said before, this working out/losing weight thing is addicting however. After I got into the gym on Monday, I felt empowered. It's an incredible feeling.
I definitely plan on keeping going with it as long as possible. It's great for me, it's great for my health, and it's great to see everyone tailing. I'm so glad so many people really got into this and are starting to do things for themselves as well!

      @ FlipK11

Thanks for the smile bud. I needed that.

I should be able to get a video in in the morning tomorrow, but I never know with my schedule.
If I don't get it posted in the morning, it will be posted later in the day. I promise.

Everyone have a great night and do better on trivia than I did.

that's the thing though man, in the same breath you're saying 'losing weight/working out is addictive' and 'yeah but there wasn't a short-term bet in place to motivate me'...

cards on the table, i'm 6'2" and probably 265lbs. maybe more. after being 220 most of my adult life. same wide-shouldered athletic frame, but much larger belly.

i quit smoking (after being at 2 packs/day literally) last august. gained 50ish pounds in a year. now, i have a $2000 treadmill, a weight bench, a $800 spinning bike and a wife who is still a certified personal trainer and teaches pilates, yoga and kickboxing. (/#humblebrag) that said, at this point, i'm not ready to give up drinking beers and eating whatever the **** tastes good. i have a hot wife who loves me, an awesome house with everything i ever wanted in it, a job i love...why wouldn't i grill steaks and have the wifey make some ridiculous casserole to go with it??

i guess i am a little self-conscious about gaining weight, but at this point that hasn't motivated me to not want to grill a hamburger at 2am if i'm hungry for a hamburger at 2am.

this may or may not cause jokes, but like i said, i guess i don't give a ****.

good luck on the weigh-in tomorrow, yo...

so after you lost 20 pounds you decided to stop going to the gym??

If you're not doing this for health and to look good, then you will fail......

Sorry bud but just give up now...

Very good points Chem, however, I do think that if I was to manage to get down to ... 200 pounds ... it would be MUCH easier to manage my weight. Right now it is so difficult because I am so inactive other than being in the gym every day now, thank goodness.
I don't like playing sports with my friends because I hate sweating like a pig in front of them...
I don't even like being outside ANYTIME during summer because just being outside, I sweat like a pig.
I think with the many changes this weight loss will bring, sweating a ton less will be one of them. This will cause me to not be so afraid/ashamed when going out with my friends and playing basketball/football/whatever the occasion.

I could be very wrong, and I really hope that this won't be the case. Until I get there, I will never know though. I must make it my mission in life right now to get there to see what awesomeness can become of being an in shape person again.

And with that, I am going to bed, it's already passed my bedtime.
            Goodnight SBR.

This gave me an idea. I will post that I am an anorexic and need motivation to gain weight. 1 point from all posters for every cheeseburger I consume. I jest.

lol @ sweating a lot, i sweat more than anyone i know, always have. saturday i was the only white person at a bbq (former student of mine's bday and i'm pretty good friends with her mom) and her younger sister said, 'damn chembro, you're sweating like a slave!'...i said, 'uhhh, Xyari, not appropriate...' but yeah, kinda spotlighted haha.

edit: plus, with a shaved head, sweat just kinda hangs on your head. hair isn't there to wisk it away, but then you know that.

no bet in place for the short term seems so wrong, offering double points for 5 pound lost in any given week is possible change from 10 points per lb up to 50 points per pound.

So you're saying you sweat a lot in the summer when its really, really hot? No shit, you're fat. Fat people sweat a lot. This is just now becoming clear to you?

Cut your bullsh*t, Creature. It pisses me off when you come in here right before your weigh-in day and start your drama queen bullsh*t. "Oh I didn't do any good this week, my daddy was mean to me". "Oh I sweat a lot so I'm embarrassed to be outside with my friends".

Get the fukk out. You weren't too embarrassed to shove a 1/2 dozen hot dogs down your throat in front of them on July 4th, were you? Did you not sweat doing that?

Don't let me come back in this thread and see this horsesh*t, Creature. You're about to piss me off here.......

100 points to you if you can lose 10lbs by next week. and don't say you can't do it! i know you can. i've watched the biggest loser and they've shedded far more weight than that. i've been hitting the gym and been running for the past month. i'm trying to join the service and just looking to get in shape and build up my stamina. if you need tips of any sort, i'm here. if you have a local track, run a mile, be sure to log your time, and then do the same thing the next day and try to improve on your time. i log every lap, (4 laps in a mile) and have been improving quite a bit. it pushes me to improve, right now i'm at 5:39 for a mile, and my goal is 5:30. started with 6 and its only been a month. but just keep pushing yourself bud.

Bit of a bummer, but keep at this. Looking back through the posts, the thing that strikes me is you need to thrive on and accept the encouragement of others, but you cannot depend on that to do what you have to do. You are not doing this for money that you will receive from someone or the points you are given, you need to do this for you. Either you conclude you will be happier if you are thinner and healthier, or you don't, but it is up to you to decide and based on your decision you motivate yourself accordingly. Don't let one week get you down, weight loss is more about averages over time, there is always fluctuations related to water/waste retention from day to day. Get back into the gym, go outside and sweat, re-hydrate and do it again. You can do this and it is you that has to do this, it is not others. We can encourage you, but at the end it is all up to you. Good luck this week.

dngf, you're right...I have to stop doing this for the little bits of money here and there, I have to do this for my well being...
To be honest though, I'm really glad I initially did do it for the money or I probably never would have started and now that I have, I do want to keep going.
                                              I have to keep going.

Just a minor setback. You will not lose every week, but if you keep working at it you will see the downward trend. I believe you can and will have more success.

I couldn't have a better side dish with lunch than a post from Uncle Opie.
Thanks man. I needed this and I definitely don't need a bratwurst in my rectum.
I've got big future goals set and big short term goals set.

I'm saying within the next...2-3 weeks...I think I, personally, will be seeing a difference in myself and that is saying a lot. I'm a huge critic when it comes to my body and I need to change a lot.
I'm going to make it happen for me not anyone else anymore.
You guys are just observers now, I've got my hands on the wheel, the bull by the horns, the fat dripping melting off me. I have to make this happen.
When I went into the doctor that day before I made this post...he said I was so close to diabetes that I should be tasting it. I can't go back there, that's too horrifying of a path for me to walk down.

It's time to just hit the gavlin on the desk and say this is the path you take: You are sentenced to losing weight and becoming happy.

Lunch is over ladies and gents.

Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to love in the world they've been given, than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact, it's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration, its a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.

Stick to your goals and conquer them. When you do, set the bar higher. Don't tell yourself you can't do it.

i PM'd you already, but what i meant was passing the scale test is one thing, but passing the mirror test is another.

just seems like if you're so happy when you lose weight and so depressed when you don't, one thing that could cushion that blow a bit is if you lifted a few weights and showed a bit more muscle weekly.

i know that's not really what you're trying to do, muscle weighs more than fat, etc. etc., but during these breakeven or 'bad' weeks, seeing muscle in your chest or arms or shoulders would help your psyche i think..
