#2349chico everyone knows Trump will not deliver on all his campaign promises. Then you dbl down with "But he will do nothing he promised." I think you knew that was false when you typed it.
Try not to compare Obama to Trump. Obama could not get anything done because he was simply a smooth speaking amateur. Being a "community organizer" does not give a guy the background to negotiate complex political deals and budget deals. Trump is going to get a lot passed in year 1 and you're probably smart enough to know it.Comment -

#2351Ford announced this morning they will scrap plans for the Mexico plant and instead...due to Trump policy hopes...invest in expanding a Michigan plant to build those model vehicles!
Trump just fed the families of workers that will build the structures....install the equipment and then assemble the vehicles and the truckers who haul them to destination!!!
Trump coming through for the people!!Ford CEO is on now talking to Cavuto. Wrong! Trump had nothing to do with them staying here. Logistics
is keeping them here.
Let's see if Trump toots his horn on this one.Comment -

#2363Ford Isn’t Adding American Jobs Because of Donald Trump
The company is doing what’s made sense for years—and what the Obama administration made possible.
On Tuesday morning, Ford Motor Co. announced it would scrap a plan to invest $1.6 billion in a new production plant in Mexico and instead plow $700 million into the Flat Rock Assembly Plant south of Detroit, which will add 700 jobs.
Ford’s announcement is primarily a response to market forces that have been underway for years. And it is inspired in part by explicit policies of the d Barack Obama administrations—the fruits of which Trump will almost certainly take credit for.
As part of the highly successfully Department of Energy Loan Guarantee Program, which actually began under the Bush administration, loans were made available to automakers and suppliers to work on batteries, electrification, and fuel efficiency. One of the automakers that took a loan, Fisker, failed, costing the taxpayers $139 million. Tesla repaid its $465 million loan, in full and with interest, nine years early. Ford was the only one of the Big Three to participate. It borrowed a hefty $5.9 billion in 2009 and used the money to upgrade 13 factories in the U.S., and revamp its assembly lines and supply chains so it could produce the F-150 pick-up truck with an aluminum body and develop the eco-boost engine. Ford has been paying back the loan and as of Sept. 30, 2016, had a balance of about $2.27 billion.Put another way, several years ago Ford took a boatload of government money and promised to spend it on research, development, and processes that would give it the know-how and capability to produce electric and electrified cars in the U.S.—and only in the U.S. And it has delivered. It’s little noticed, but each month Ford’s plug-in hybrids, the C-Max Energi and the Fusion Energi, sell more units combined than the Chevrolet Volt. Armed with the experience, technology, and platforms it has built in the last several years, Ford is plunging ahead into an electrified future. Fields announced Tuesday that the company would introduce 13 electric vehicle models in the next five years, and would soon be producing hybrid versions of its iconic Mustang and Ford-150 in the Detroit area.
So, sure, you could thank Trump that these American cars are going to be made in America. But you should thank Obama first.

#2370Ford CEO: Main reason for canceling Mexico plant was market demand, not Trump
CEO Mark Fields told CNBC on Tuesday that President-elect Donald Trump wasn't the main factor when Ford decided to cancel its plans for a $1.6 billion plant in Mexico.
In an interview on CNBC's "Halftime Report," Fields said the decision not move forward with its San Luis Potosi, Mexico, plant was due to market demand.
"The bottom line is we're not seeing the volume and the demand that we expected for that plant. And, therefore, we're looking at our capacity and saying, 'You know what, we can build that in an existing facility and use capacity that we already have,'" he said.
"Over the last couple of years we've seen small cars markedly decline. Every year we're looking at our capacity. We're looking at our forecast for demand. It became very clear that we didn't need this plant."
On Tuesday, Ford announced it will instead invest $700 million in its Flat Rock, Michigan, plant and add 700 direct new jobs. The company said it will continue to build its Ford Focus at an existing plant in Hermosillo, Mexico, to improve company profitability.Comment -

#2375"Trump wasn't the MAIN factor." It's politics and MSM spin. The Ford guy has shareholders who don't like Trump so he words it in a way not to give him all the credit and the MSM will focus only on that part. The sheep will follow as per usual.

#2379Just forwarding the news for anyone who may have missed it, people have busy lives. This subject isnt a concern of mine, could care less what Ford does or doesnt do or if Trump actually had a hand in them not building a plant in Mexico or if Donald is doing the customary photo op after the smoke clears. I just took a second to do a search and those couple articles were the first to pop up.Comment -

#2380Say he had nothing to do with it. Fine. But, he just made them a ton. People will buy more because of the publicity that it garnered. He is the best thing to happen to American cars for the future.
And, I agree that this damn thread needs to die.Comment
