I agree, to an extent...once someone has proven they've closed their minds to evidence, or declares their belief in something regardless of any past or future evidence, further discussions aren't likely to change anything. Personally, I'd rather know what my friends believe regardless of what it is, so I can better determine who they are and whether they're someone I want to spend more time around.

No disrespect meant but I stand by the assertion, it's always important to consider the source. Alex Jones for example, If I was discussing global warming with someone and they quoted something said by Alex Jones, that's important. It doesn't necessarily mean it's wrong but the guy has been proven time and time and time again. The source is important.

You made a statement (the one quoted in the previous post) that your mother sees visions all the time and can tell others things that are personal. Beyond the obvious that there is no scientific explanation that would lend your anecdotal story any credence, there has never been a documented case in this day and age that demonstrates ANYONE could have such insight or powers. It's just not reality. You can argue this until you are blue in the face but if someone could consistently do this, as you say, it would be studied, documented and well known. I'm sorry but this says something about your thought process and to me it clarifies so of your other statements.

It may seem absolutely nutty - but as someone not affected by it, it's about as worrisome as someone who doesn't want to live on the 13th floor of a building.

Was watching celebrity ghost stories last night. Rue McClanahan (golden girls fame) was on telling her story.

She was very close to a friend that died. They used to always goof off since they were kids. Before her friends

and her friend was sitting in a chair, with his devilish grin on saying, it's no big deal. She took it as dying is no big deal. She believes in the afterlife now. (She has since passed on also)

Did she manifest that all that on her own or could it happen? I heard it's very easy for spirits to manipulate electricity.

I think you're entire perspective of life and the world is viewed through religious lens, so in your mind, it's not absurd for a person to be able to have visions, or a sixth sense, because that was common in the bible. But the thing about the bible and the characters in it and all their extravagant stories is that they didn't have the technology we do now. They hadn't gone through the scientific revolution, so it was easier to get away with bullshit claims back then.

I like to go above and beyond on the religious subject. Some go negative, deny, need proof and all that. I go the
