WIll preface by saying that no matter the numbers, the amount of times an Alabama 2nd half had worked AGAINST whatever I pick for them this season is HIGH, so take that into consideration. Still, this is the way the formula points and it's a good try even when it inevitably fails.

West Regional Play #6: Norfolk State Team Total Over 61.5 [-110]
I certainly don't expect Mizzou to get beat today, but Norfolk State is an experienced squad with size that could trouble the Tigers enough to put up some points. Let's remember, for all of Mizzou's offensive weaponry, their defense does give up 65 ppg on 44% shooting. O'Quinn is a big boy down low for Norfolk who has a size advantage that he can exploit for some easier buckets. Norfolk also prefers a quick pace which means they could speed up the game looking for some transition opportunities. Let's remember, even though Mizzou scores a ton, they don't play a breakneck pace. They will run, but they get a lot of their stuff do to great execution in their sets. Closest thing to gauge Norfolk on is their two meetings with Marquette. They scored 68 & 57. 68 came in an open game, the 2nd meeting they tried to slow it down some. I think if this turns into the eventual blowout, Norfolk has enough pieces to put 62 points on the board.Comment -

West Regional Play #7: Memphis-St.Louis Over 128 [-110]
Yes, St.Louis will be playing their usual slow ball, but we're dealing with two highly efficient offensive clubs here. The Billikens shoot 45% and average 69 ppg, while Memphis hits for 75 ppg on 49% shooting. Yes, St.Louis' defense allows just 57 ppg on 40% shooting and Memphis allows 63 ppg on 38% shooting. But if you look at St.Louis against the better teams they played, teams do get their points. Xavier scored 71 in booting them from the A-10 tourney on 53% shooting. Temple scored 72 on them in the regular season as probably the best overall offense they faced. Memphis got a lot of their #s against inferior C-USA competition and were a far less effective group on the road and struggled in neutral site games early against Georgetown and Tennessee. STL also hit OVERs in ten of 15 posted totals away from home this season and four of five on neutral courts.Comment -

It's a pretty even game just like when it started. I'd go with whomever you thought was going to win before it started. Don't see a whole lot to separate them right now. Only shot in hell for this is probably OT and lots of fouling. Pace is set to maybe get mid 60s points wise with improved shooting, but I can't see getting 82.

West Regional Play #8: Marquette's Darius Johnson-Odom Total Points Over 17.5 [-135]
DJO has just been rock solid all season and he continued to churn out points in Marquette's 1st round win with 20 against BYU. DJO has now scored at least 18 in 15 of the Golden Eagles last 20 games. He's a versatile guy who can fill it up from deep, but also excels at getting into the lane and getting to the line. That's another key today. DJO is at his best when he's getting to the line for extra points. Marquette compared Murray State to Norfolk State who they played twice. DJO had 24 & 20 in those two meetings. Murray State probably has a bit better perimeter D than Norfolk, but expect DJO's combo play inside and out to get him another shot at 20 points today because Marquette is going to need it to survive and advance. Key numbers for me today are at least 15 FGAs and a minimum of four FTAs where he shoots a solid 77%.Comment -

WNCAA: Dayton +3 [-110]
Dayton is in the tournament for the third straight season and got very hot to end the season with seven straight wins and wins in 13 of 14 to end the campaign. That was capped with an A-10 tourney title over St.Bonaventure, one of only two blemishes in their conference campaign. Dayton played St.Bonaventure extremely tough even in their one loss, falling by a single point. Arkansas is back in the tournament for the 1st time since 2003 and there have been no bones about it, this was the goal for the senior-laden club. Does that mean they're simply happy to be here? Probably not, but the Lady Razorbacks are remarkably inconsistent. They were good enough to beat Tennessee in Knoxville, but lost twice to LSU in the last month. Offense is the question for Arkansas. They were middle of the pack in the SEC in scoring @ 61 ppg and 8th in FG% @ 38%. Dayton conversely ranked first in the A-10 with 70 ppg on 30% shooting. Arkansas wins with defense. Both are +3 in rebounding margin, but the edge could got to Dayton late with FTs where they shoot 74%. Arkansas just 64%. The women's tournament is similar to the men in that 11s routinely score upsets over 6s. Going with the hot team here. Both are hungry, but Dayton seems more consistent.Comment
