Philadelphia Flyers Team Totals over 2.5 @ -124 Pinnacle

In December Flyers are averaging 3.1 goals per match in avg. During this time they have scored 12 goals on only 3 matches at home, on last 4 matches (home and road) they've been firing away as they have scored 17 goals. Giroux has woken up, Simmonds is scoring, actually all 3 lines started producing, they only have defensive issues. They have won the 3 December home matches while Minnesota is 1/6 playing on the road this month so far.

Minnesota played yesterday in New York, they lost with 1-4. Backstrom was in net and he allowed all 4 of the goals, including this fiasco. Tonight he will start again and if the defense couldn't stop Rangers yesterday, I don't see any reason why Flyers also wouldn't be able to score 3 goals on them. In December Wild allowed in avg. 3 goals per match on 7 road games. On last 2 they have played against East side teams - Rangers and Pittsburgh - and they allowed 9 goals.

Furthermore for stats lovers, in last 6 H2H matches Flyers scored 3 or more goals but those mutual matches are dating back to 2003 so I wouldn't pay much attention to them.

It will be the last match for Wild on the mini East coast trip and they played yesterday so they are probably tired and with their thoughts already on the way back home. I don't really trust Flyers to win tonight (they allow almost 3 goals per game in avg. in December) but I believe they will score at least 3 goals themselves on tired Wild defense with Backstrom in net who is lately struggling mightily.

I think bookies are giving too much props to Team Canada. Last year they have won the cup but it was a lockout year so it was an entirely different team. Canada has troubles with their defense while home team Davos is one of the favorites to win NLA league. Yesterday they played a really good game against Vitkovice. It will probably be a close match but I rather see Davos as a favorite here.

HC Pardubice @ -107 Pinnacle

The odds for Pardubice to win are pretty gracious by bookies. Chomutov is deadly last and by far the worst offensive as well as defensive team in the league. On 33 matches their goal ratio is 60-121 and they have lost last 6 matches. They have problems with injuries: 3 offensive players are missing - captain Bartecko, Balej (2nd most efficient player) and Sikora; and 2 defensmans - Kucny and Malec. A couple of young players are currently also absent because they are playing at U20 WC (Sulak, Kampf, Kasa). Their opponent Pardubice is battling for 6th place in regular season (they are 1 point behind 6th place) which would still lead them directly into playoffs so they should be motivated to win tomorrow. Pardubice is one of the best offensive teams in the league which makes me believe they shouldn't have problems finding back of the home team's net, they just need to show good defensive performance as well.

Young Russian team consists of KHL and VHL players, some of who also have bigger roles in their clubs. I see them as the strongest "European" team on this championship. They had no troubles beating Norway (11-0) and Switzerland (7-1) so I think they should also beat Finland tomorrow as I see them battling USA for gold.

Amur is probably the weakest (or perhaps Novokuznetsk is worse) team in the league and today they made it official they have sold 1st and 2nd most efficient players of the team - Mursak and Petruzalek. Club was nearly bankrupt but it got saved by locals so now they are selling the best and most expensive players. Lokomotiv is a decent club, currently holding 8th spot in Western conference which is the last playoff spot. They have nice advantage of 9 points but I think the motivation shouldn't be any lower to win. KHL has a New Year break for a couple of days so I'll go only with half a unit but play it early as I think odds will drop before January 3rd.

5.1.2014 - EBEL (EHL)

KAC is 8th but "Rekordmeister" is still living in hopes to reach the playoffs without additional qualification after first part of the season. They are coming home from victories on 3 hard road games which they have all won after SO. They heave beaten leading and 2nd leading team in the league, as well as Graz. Their tomorrow's opponent Bolzano is coming to Klangenfurt after 3 close but straight victories as well, though 2 of the opponents were last and 2nd last team in the league. Bolzano team has already reached the playoffs so they can play for the position now. They are 2 points behind 2nd place and are holding the lead in front of 5th place by only 1 point so they shouldn't lack motivation either. Tomorrow we should see quite a close and equal match but there is one factor which people who are following to EBEL league know quite well. This is Austrian league with leading Austrian referees and one of the most protected teams in the league is KAC. They will play at home arena, they are chasing the guaranteed playoff spot and ever since the team is healthy again they have raised their form to the level where they can be equal opponent to any other team. Until this season it was quite hard to beat KAC at their home turf but this "tradition" has been broken in 2013 or at least so it seems so far in the season. How ever there is one "tradition" KAC and their fans can count on - help by referees, as much as I have seen on last couple of matches. I hate to base my bets on such assumptions but knowing the league and with given odds I'll take the home team for smaller unit.

Both teams are in a slump - Vancouver lost 2 at home, Los Angeles lost last 5 (4 on the road) and both teams get their starting goalies back after injury (Luongo's injury was short-term and I believe Quick's long-awaited return is tonight), but either way Kings need this victory much more. Canucks play tomorrow in Anaheim while Kings play in 3 days at Minnesota so all they had to prepare for in the last couple of days is tonight's opponent from Vancouver.

Buffalo goes with Enroth. I'd prefer Miller but Enroth has some impressive numbers as well and the only victory at his 13 appearences comes over Florida when Sabres have won with 3-1. Still worth half a unit bet.
