My best England vs. Congo prediction highlights why this match may be closer than many expect. DR Congo's defense has been excellent at this World Cup, which could make life difficult for Harry Kane and the rest of England's attack.

Still, England has an 87% chance of advancing according to prediction market apps. Ahead of today's noon ET start at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, I make my World Cup best bets. The game will air on FOX and Telemundo and stream on FOX One.

England is heavily favored in this match, but the Congo defense is talented enough to give the English some trouble. Congo has allowed just one goal in each of its first three games, with two of those matches coming against Colombia and Portugal. It's that defense that heavily influenced my best Harry Kane prop bets.

While England exploded for four goals in its World Cup opener against Croatia, the offense has struggled in its other two matches. England didn't score against Ghana and struggled against Panama for the first hour of the match. I expect England to advance, but Congo is going to provide a scare.

Score prediction: England 1, Congo 0

💵 My best pick: Yes - England 7+ corners (56 cents)

England has 24 corners in three matches. The English have at least seven in every game thus far, and considering I expect them to dominate possession for the third consecutive match, they'll be able to get corners whenever they want.

Congo conceded just 14 corners during the group stage, which is why the price for Yes isn't overly high. But England has such a knack for earning corners, I'd even take 9+, which is currently priced at 29 cents.

🦶 Who will score in England vs. Congo?

Follow all of our expert soccer analysis for World Cup 2026.

Jude Bellingham, M, England (25%)

In what I expect to be a low-scoring contest, I can't back Kane at 53 cents, even if he is most likely to score. Instead, I'm grabbing value by backing Bellingham at 25 cents.

Bellingham has scored twice at this World Cup, recording the first goal for England in its most recent win over Panama. Bellingham has at least two shots in two of his three matches, and he has three shots on goal at this tournament. It's also worth noting that two of the three goals allowed by Congo have come from midfielders or defenders.

Best England vs. Congo goal-scorer pick: Jude Bellingham (25%)

🥅 Will both teams score in England vs. Congo?

No, I don't expect both teams to score in this match. England hasn't allowed a goal since Croatia scored in first-half stoppage time in its World Cup opener. Congo has scored in two of its three games but produced just one shot on goal against Colombia and two against Portugal. Congo simply won't create enough opportunities against an excellent defense.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: No (67 cents)
