Group H's second seed or a third-place knockout round spot could be on the line tonight, and my Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia prediction breaks down the critical game. Both teams are priced at +170 on the moneyline, with the draw at +235. Play from NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, is set to get underway at 8 p.m. ET (FS1, Universo, FOX One).

My World Cup best bets will break down a winner, a couple of my favorite game props, and my favorite goalscorer.

⚽ Who will win Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia?

Cape Verde has shocked the world with two draws, holding Spain (0-0) on Matchday 1 and keeping pace with Uruguay (2-2) on Matchday 2. Tonight, they can complete the improbable with the full three points over Saudi Arabia.

The Blue Sharks have used an organized low block on the back line, and the 40-year-old Vozinha has kept them in games when it's broken down. Against Uruguay, their transitional speed exposed a pressing backline on a number of occasions - that's what gets them over the edge tonight.

Saudi Arabia has been outshot 47-10 (18-4 on target) and has failed to create a big chance through two games. That's not the stuff winners are made of.

Score prediction: Cape Verde 2, Saudi Arabia 1

💵 My best bet: Both teams to score - yes (-120)

This is largely a play on the situation: if Uruguay loses to Spain tonight (which is a likely outcome), a win from either of these teams books them a spot in the second round via the second seed. If Uruguay wins, the full three points will be needed to keep any hope alive as a third-seed contender.

So with both teams knowing the tournament ends without a victory, both teams will be pushing full speed. A draw likely send them both home. It's three points or bust, and that means action with a full press until the final whistle.

🦶 Who will score in Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia?

Follow all of our expert soccer betting analysis for the 2026 World Cup.

Helio Varela, F, Cape Verde

Varela came off the bench as a sub and cemented himself with hero status almost immediately against Uruguay. He needed just three minutes following his introduction to pick off an errant pass and used his explosive pace to score the equalizer on a blistering shot from outside the box.

His raw speed makes him the perfect example tonight to take advantage of a Saudi Arabia side that has to commit bodies forward. He scored only six times in 42 games for Maccabi Tel Aviv last season, but he'll be flying high and won't hesitate to let fly from outside the box when given the opportunity. At this price, I'm happy to see if he can carry forward his momentum.

Best Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia goal-scorer pick: Helio Varela (+430 via bet365)

🥅 Will both teams score in Cape Verde vs. Saudi Arabia?

Yes, both teams will score in this game. In fact, this is my favorite play for the entire game.

It wouldn't be shocking to see this game start cautiously but for things to get out of hand in the second half. If Cape Verde scores first, Saudi Arabia will have to throw everything but the kitchen sink forward in an effort to level out the game. On the other hand, if the Green Falcons take the lead, then Cape Verde will abandon its defensive structure to keep their unbeaten run and dreams alive.

Cape Verde's defense was more in line with what we'd have expecting last time out, allowing 2.32 xG against Uruguay. Saudi Arabia was exposed for four against Spain.

Both teams to score (BTTS) pick: Yes (-120 via FanDuel)
