🏈 Super Bowl 2026: Seahawks vs. Patriots stats & numbers to know
52 - Combined points when the Seahawks and Patriots met in Super Bowl 49 in 2015, which ended with a Malcolm Butler interception at the goal line in one of the worst Super Bowl losses of all time. That marked the last Super Bowl appearance for Seattle, while New England won two of the next four titles sandwiched around a loss in 2018.
7.1 - Average margin of victory over the spread for the Seahawks, who enjoyed the NFL's best ATS record (12-5) during the regular season. Seattle posted a 5-3 ATS record as a home favorite this season but outscored opponents by 15.3 points per game in that spot, which ranked third-best leaguewide and was the best mark in the NFC.
10 - Additional wins for the Patriots this season (14-3) compared to last season (4-13) - tied with the 1999 Indianapolis Colts and 2008 Miami Dolphins for the single-biggest improvement in NFL history. New England can also become the 15th team in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl a year after posting a losing record.
58.5 - Total expected points added by Sam Darnold on play action this season, the highest mark by any quarterback in the NFL. The Super Bowl MVP odds favorite also led all passers with 0.41 EPA per dropback and a 51.7% DVOA on play action in the regular season, though the Patriots' defense has posted the NFL's best DVOA against play-action passes (-36.4%) since Week 10.
72% - Drake Maye's completion percentage in the regular season, tied for the fifth-best in a single season in NFL history. Maye also led all qualified passers this season in yards per attempt (8.9), passer rating (113.5), and QBR (77.1) and finished second in the final NFL MVP odds, falling one vote shy of beating out Matthew Stafford for the award.
32.1% - Third-down conversion rate allowed by the Seahawks' defense in the regular season, the lowest mark in the NFL. Seattle held opponents to a 17.8% conversion rate on third-and-long while ranking first in scoring defense, points per drive, and EPA per play and posting the 12th-best defensive DVOA in league history (-24.2%).
40 - Red-zone attempts allowed by the Patriots in the regular season, the fewest surrendered by any team this season. Teams scored on 27 of those attempts for a 67.5% red-zone conversion rate - the third-highest against any defense this year. The Seahawks ranked seventh in red-zone trips per game (3.7) in the regular season.
17 - Combined wins for Mike Vrabel in his first regular season and postseason, tied for the NFL record for the most in a head coach's first year with his team. He's the eighth coach to reach the Super Bowl in his first season at the helm and could become the only one to win a championship with the same team as a player and head coach.
15 - Times that Maye has been sacked this postseason, the most for any quarterback to reach the Super Bowl since 1970. He's been sacked on 48.4% of his pressured dropbacks, roughly twice his rate from the regular season, while the Seahawks ranked sixth in pressure rate this year (26.1%) despite blitzing at the seventh-lowest rate (19.3%).
41.4% - Percent of defensive snaps that the Patriots have blitzed in the postseason, up from a below-average rate of 27.4% during the regular season. Darnold ranked 23rd in passing DVOA against the blitz during the regular season (-1.0%) and was sacked twice on nine blitzes against the Rams in the NFC Championship.
44 - Receptions of at least 15 yards for Jaxon Smith-Njigba, the most "explosive catches" by any receiver in a single season over the last two years. JSN finished the regular season with the eighth-most receiving yards in NFL history (1,793) - including a league-best nine games with 100-plus yards to set a franchise record - and added 10 catches for 153 yards and a touchdown in the NFC Championship against the Rams.
18 - Points per game scored by the Patriots through three playoff contests, the fewest by any team in a three-game run en route to a Super Bowl since 1979. That's a dramatic dip from the regular season, when New England ranked second in scoring offense (28.8 PPG) and yards per play (6.2) and third in total offense (379.4 YPG).
3 - Touchdowns by kick/punt returner Rashid Shaheed, the most by any player in the NFL this season. All three of his scores have come since the Seahawks acquired him from the New Orleans Saints at the trade deadline - including a touchdown return on the opening kickoff last week against the 49ers - to help Seattle rank second in special teams DVOA.
6 - Super Bowl victories for the Patriots, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most by a single franchise in NFL history. New England can break the tie with a win today for its seventh Lombardi Trophy and first without Tom Brady, whose seven Super Bowl rings are the most by any player (or franchise) of all time.
