The New York Giants play host to the Green Bay Packers as part of a Week 14 Monday Night Football doubleheader in a crucial game for the host's playoff chances, and we provide our top predictions for the Packers vs. Giants Monday Night Football matchup based on the best NFL odds at our best sportsbooks.

The Green Bay Packers are .500 for the first time in 2023 since Week 4 after a three-game win streak, including knocking off the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football.

They'll look to remain sizzling on Monday Night Football in a contest with massive implications for their chances to make the postseason, and it could even impact the Packers' Super Bowl odds.

Conversely, the New York Giants (4-8) are playing their first contest after a bye and a two-game winning streak, which included a 10-7 Week 12 triumph over the New England Patriots. Rookie QB Tommy Devito, holding an eye-catching 2-1 record as a starter, has surfaced as a standout among the Giants' passers in a season filled with backup QBs.

DeVito's leadership helped guide the team to both victories before the bye, starkly contrasting the collective 2-7 record that all other New York quarterbacks hold in 2023.

Packers vs. Giants prediction: Monday Night Football

Giants +6.5 (-105 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐

Public perception heavily influences collective decision-making when it comes to game predictions, and the recent national TV victory by Green Bay over the defending Super Bowl champions came with significant influence. The spotlight on that win has likely elevated the public's confidence in Green Bay's capabilities, potentially swaying their expectations and support toward the team in upcoming games based on the impressive display witnessed on a widely watched platform.

On the other hand, the Giants were out of the public eye on a bye week last week and were slogging their way through a brutal defensive struggle against the AFC’s worst team in their previous game. Thus, the sportsbooks will likely need a Giants cover this week, and that is precisely the side we wish to be on.

There is no denying Packers quarterback Jordan Love’s stellar play of late, following up a 91 Total QBR through the first two games of the team’s winning streak with a 90.3 QBR against Kansas City last week. Green Bay started last week’s game with two 75-yard touchdown drives, the first time all season that the Chiefs allowed touchdowns on the first two possessions.

However, Green Bay also benefited from a Chiefs offense that continues to struggle, as their wide receivers’ 106 receiving yards were their third-lowest of the season, and Patrick Mahomes was off target on a season-worst 26% of his passes.

New York has nine takeaways during its two-game winning streak and is coming off consecutive games with three or more interceptions for the first time since 2015. Considering Love threw 10 interceptions through the first nine games, six of which came in road starts, the Giants have an avenue to stay in the game if they can rattle the first-year starter.

And for those that are ready to ridicule the choice to start DeVito at quarterback despite Tyrod Taylor returning from IR, know that in a much smaller sample size of three games, DeVito has the same winning percentage as Patrick Mahomes this season, a 2.3 TD-INT ratio compared to Mahomes’ 2.2, and has averaged 10.6 yards per completion relative to Mahomes’ 10.4 average.

Green Bay covered the spread in its only game as a favorite this season (a 20-3 win over the Los Angeles Rams as 3.5-point favorites). Still, the fact that the Packers have only been favored in one of 12 games suggests that they are slightly overvalued in this matchup despite their recent success.

Thus, we are backing the Giants as a three-star play despite New York entering the week with the second-worst point differential in the league (-133).

DraftKings and FanDuel are the only two of our best sports betting apps charging less than the standard -110 juice to back the Giants at +6.5, but FanDuel offers the best value at -105.

At those lower odds, it is enticing to take advantage of the alternate spread of +7.5 for -142, but given our belief that Green Bay will be a popular favorite, we would rather wait and see if the line gets to at least +7 on its own. However, we are not advising taking New York on the moneyline at our best sports betting sites (the best odds are the +260 found at FanDuel), as since 2017, the Giants are 9-40 SU when not playing at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday.

Packers vs. Giants odds analysis

FanDuel and bet365 opened the lowest of our best sports betting sites, with Green Bay at -5.5, while all others got to their current lines from an opening number of -6. Caesars and DraftKings were the only two shops that briefly got to +7 on Tuesday afternoon, but Giants backers weighed in quickly at that number and drove the line back down to -6.5. The Packers are getting nearly two-thirds of the point spread action thus far, with 65% of the early wagers.

FanDuel is the only one of our best sportsbooks offering a total as high as 37.5, as all others are in unison at 37. While all its other competitors opened higher at 38 on Sunday night, FanDuel started the week with a slightly lower opening number of 37, so it is the only shop where the line movement has gone towards the Over. There is almost a 3/1 split thus far, as 73% of the wagers have backed the Over.
