If Saturday's taught us anything, madness is already in the air ahead of March after five ranked teams lost yesterday, including two in the top five. While I don't expect the Buckeyes to win outright, they're poised to cover for a second straight game against Michigan.
With an offense led by Bruce Thornton and John Mobley Jr. that's ranked top 25 in adjusted efficiency, the Buckeyes can pressure Michigan's defense enough to keep it close.
The Wolverines' defense has slipped in Big Ten play, and Ohio State is 4-2 ATS since mid-January, while Michigan is 4-8 ATS in conference games.
Score prediction: Michigan 83, Ohio State 74
🔥 Best Michigan vs. Ohio State player prop: John Mobley Jr. 4+ made 3-pointers (+142)
Though Thornton is the engine that makes the Buckeyes run, Mobley is Jake Diebler's X-factor. The sophomore is one of the best shooters in the country, ranking 30th nationally in made 3-pointers per game (3.1).
He's taken on a larger role in Big Ten play, too, hitting 3.3 threes on 8.2 attempts per game (40.8%). That includes hitting at least four 3-pointers in seven of his last 10 conference matchups.
The last time the Buckeyes played Michigan, Mobley went 4-for-9 from deep against a Wolverines defense that has allowed 8.3 makes from behind the arc in Big Ten matchups.
