After USC guard Bronny James declared for the draft, the 2024 NBA Draft odds are even more uncertain.

Bronny James, son of NBA superstar LeBron James, announced his entry into the 2024 NBA Draft following an underwhelming freshman season at USC.

It comes as no surprise that the Los Angeles Lakers (+250) are currently leading the pack, per our best sportsbooks, in the race to potentially select LeBrons James' son, who is being hailed as a promising first-round prospect in the upcoming rookie draft scheduled for June.

Throughout the 2023-24 season, the 6-foot-4 guard for the Trojans delivered modest performances, averageing 4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 19.4 minutes per game. He started six out of 25 games, and put up a season-high performance of 15 points during a match against Oregon State on Dec. 30.

James will maintain his collegiate eligibility while also entering the NCAA transfer portal.

Which team will Bronny James be drafted by?

The Lakers would have the projected 14th overall pick in the 2024 draft, but the New Orleans Pelicans own the rights to either that pick or the Lakers' 2025 first. Assuming the Pelicans opt for this year's pick, that leaves Los Angeles without a selection in the current first-round order, while the Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, and Charlotte Hornets own the top three picks ahead of the draft lottery.

These odds from DraftKings insinuate the Lakers still will find a way to draft the son of their current biggest star. The +250 odds represent an implied probability of 28.57%. A $10 bet on the Lakers would return a profit of $25 on a winning ticket.

Selecting James in the draft could be viewed by teams as a way of luring LeBron to their franchise for at least one final season. The 39-year-old future Hall of Famer is averaging 25.4 points, 8.1 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game for the Lakers this season, but he has said that retirement is looming.
