Oklahoma City Thunder coach Mark Daigneault has already been named by his peers as the best coach of the 2023-24 season. After pulling away from the field over the last two months, he's the consensus favorite by our best sports betting sites to win the official NBA Coach of the Year award, too.
Daigneault was once locked in a tight race with Minnesota Timberwolves coach Chris Finch, who had his team atop the Western Conference as late as March 7. Then the Thunder seized the top spot and held off the Denver Nuggets down the stretch to secure their first No. 1 seed since 2013, bolstering their NBA championship odds in the process.

Favorites to win 2024 NBA Coach of the Year

It's no surprise to see Daugneault closing as a heavy favorite in this market with the Thunder clinching the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference and ranking in the top five in both offensive and defensive rating.
That performance was good enough to earn Daigneault the NBCA Coach of the Year award, which is voted on by the league's 30 head coaches. That isn't the same as winning the official NBA Coach of the Year award, but it certainly signals what we might see from voters in this market.

It wasn't long ago that Finch was trading at odds as short as +175 and was a popular pick to win NBA Coach of the Year. However, the final two months of the season saw him slide behind Daugneault as the Timberwolves lost control of the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference.
Still, Finch has an outside shot to win this award after the Timberwolves' transformational season. Their 56 wins are the second-most in franchise history behind only their 58-win season in 2003-04, which was also the last time this team won more than 47 games.

While Daigneault and Finch have gotten all the attention, don't forget about Mosley, who led the Orlando Magic to 47 wins this season - just three fewer than the No. 2 seed New York Knicks and three fewer than the No. 3 seed Milwaukee Bucks.
