NBA Cup Odds 2024: Celtics Remain Favorites for 2nd In-Season Tournament
The 2024 NBA Cup odds closely mirror the NBA championship odds, including the reigning NBA Finals champion Boston Celtics topping the oddsboard.
However, there is likely to be more variance than in the race for the Larry O'Brien Trophy, as seen by the surprising finals between the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers last year.
- The Celtics (+400) were upset in the quarterfinals by the Indiana Pacers last season, showing how much harder it is to win as the favorite in a do-or-die format
- The Knicks (+1000) took a slight step back amongst our best NBA betting sites since the season began after the team put forth some up-and-down results to kick off the campaign
- The Nuggets (+1700) are near the top of the pack despite stunningly getting eliminated in the group stage with a 2-2 record last year
Here's a look at the latest NBA Cup odds with the 2024-25 regular season finally underway and the in-season tournament tipping off in under a month.

NBA Cup favorites 2024
Celtics (+400)
The Celtics were the best team in the NBA last season from start to finish. They had the best record in the league (64-18) and then cruised through the playoffs with relative ease to bring home their first title in over a decade.
Boston dropped just three games in four series to take home the championship, and head coach Joe Mazzulla and general manager Brad Stevens bring back the bulk of the roster that got them there last year. But can this group win the NBA In-Season Tournament?
It was basically the only thing they didn't win last year, and perhaps it's a curse to win the hardware. The Lakers did absolutely nothing in the playoffs after winning it. However, betting against the Celtics to win extra special regular season games is tough to stomach.
The Celtics have started the new campaign much like they finished the last one - on a dominant run. Boston has just one overtime loss on the entire campaign, which has shortened their NBA Cups odds from +550 to +400 in under two weeks. Such short odds for a tournament that could hold many surprises is certainly notable.
If Boston wins the NBA In-Season Tournament, a $10 bet pays a $40 profit via the market-best odds from Caesars.

My NBA Cup team to watch
Kings (+2200)
Nobody expected the star-forward Lakers or the young, upstart Pacers to make the NBA Cup finals last season. Because of this, it's quite possible our best sports betting apps have some sleeping giants with massive long-shot odds to make a real run at the single-elimination tournament title.
The Kings have gotten off to a solid start during the early days of the 2024-25 regular season, and some uninspiring results from the top of their NBA Cup group could give Sacramento some opportunity.
The offense is never a problem with the Kings, and the offseason acquisition of DeMar DeRozan has only made the team's scoring attack more lethal. However, it's their defense, ranked No. 7 in the early campaign, that has turned heads. If the team can combine its high powered offense with at least competent defensive ability in the NBA Cup, they'll be in every game.
Sacramento's pool play would have handed it a tough draw no matter what given the depth of the Western Conference, but the team is in the clear worst group. The Minnesota Timberwolves lead the way, but the Kawhi-less Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, and Portland Trail Blazers aren't expected to be major threats.
If the Kings can get to the do-or-die bracket, anything can happen. With their highlight reel plays and infectious energy, they could be a fan favorite in the neutral site semifinals and finals, and provide bettors the opportunity to hit a major long-shot bet.

NBA In-Season Tournament MVP
NBA In-Season Tournament MVP odds via FanDuel.
Player | FanDuel |
---|---|
Jayson Tatum | +650 |
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander | +950 |
Jalen Brunson | +1300 |
Anthony Edwards | +1400 |
Jaylen Brown | +1500 |
Joel Embiid | +1500 |
Luka Doncic | +1700 |
Nikola Jokic | +1800 |
Donovan Mitchell | +1800 |
Giannis Antetokounmpo | +2000 |
There's a lot of crossover with the NBA MVP odds with the championship-favorite Celtics well represented in both futures markets. Gilgeous-Alexander is also near the top of both oddsboards.
The Knicks' acquisition of Towns helped to bump Brunson up NBA Cup MVP oddsboard. Regardless of the team's additions this offseason, he remains the clear leader and No. 1 star in New York. The additional support improved the Knicks' chances of winning the tournament, and thus his odds of being named MVP.

How to bet on the NBA Cup
Betting on the NBA In-Season Tournament (NBA Cup) odds is pretty straightforward. First, pick a sportsbook offering odds on the tournament. Check the odds for different teams; for example, if the Lakers are at +400 and the Celtics are at +600, the Lakers are favored to win.
Decide how much you want to bet and place your wager. If you bet $100 on the Lakers at +400 and they win, you’ll get $500 back ($400 profit + $100 stake). Keep an eye on team performances during the tournament to see how your bet is shaping up.
Now, why do odds move in future markets? It’s all about team performance and public perception. If a team starts playing better or worse than expected, their odds will adjust. Injuries to key players or changes in team dynamics can also affect the odds.
Additionally, if a lot of people are betting on a particular team, sportsbooks might shift the odds to balance their risk. Expert analysis and media coverage can also sway public opinion, influencing how people bet and causing odds to move.
How to read NBA Cup odds
Reading NBA In-Season Tournament (NBA Cup) odds is easy. Odds are usually displayed in formats like +400 or -150. Positive odds (e.g., +400) indicate how much profit you'd make on a $100 bet.
So, a $100 bet at +400 odds would win you $400, plus your original $100 stake, totaling $500. Negative odds (e.g., -150) show how much you need to bet to win $100. For example, a $150 bet at -150 odds would win you $100, plus your $150 stake, totaling $250.
These odds also give you a sense of the implied probability of a team winning the tournament. Lower odds (e.g., +200) suggest a higher likelihood of winning, while higher odds (e.g., +1000) indicate a lower likelihood. Sportsbooks adjust these odds based on factors like team performance, injuries, and public betting trends.
For example, if the Lakers have +400 odds and the Celtics have +600 odds, the Lakers are considered more likely to win. If you bet $100 on the Lakers and they win, you’d get $500 back ($400 profit + $100 stake). Understanding these odds helps you gauge potential returns and make informed betting decisions.
