NBA Sixth Man of the Year 2024 favorite

Malik Monk (+100 via BetMGM)

It took some time, but Monk finally overtook Hardaway as the favorite in this market, which came weeks after we recommended him as our best long shot.

The Kings supersub has been lighting it up as of late, scoring 20-plus in six of his last eight games while averaging 20.4 points in the month of February. He's also played 28.8 minutes per game after averaging 25.3 minutes through his first 45 games.

Sacramento is trusting Monk to play a big role as it clings to the No. 8 seed in the West, and the former lottery pick has responded with one of the best stretches of his career. If he continues to get elevated playing time off the bench, he could take home this award for the first time.

NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds 2024: Contender

Tim Hardaway Jr. (+180 via FanDuel)

Hardaway took off in this race after scoring 36 points in the Mavericks' win over the Orlando Magic on Jan. 29. Since then, he's averaged just 11 points on 33.7% shooting, and he's yet to score 20 points in eight games during that run.

He's fallen below double digits in three of those eight contests, which had happened just five times all season through his first 44 games. It's a bad time for Hardaway to suffer the worst slump of the season entering the NBA All-Star break.

This isn't the worst time to buy low on Hardaway if you trust the Mavericks guard to turn it on over the final few weeks. The bigger question is whether he's shown enough to justify that belief.

NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds 2024: Long shot

Bogdan Bogdanovic (+3000 via DraftKings)

Bogdanovic isn't the sexiest name in this market, which typically awards high-volume combo guards with flashy box-score metrics. Still, don't discount the Atlanta Hawks wing amid the best season of his career.

Bogdanovic actually leads all players in scoring (16.9 PPG) among those with at least 30 games off the bench, and he ranks second among that group with 1.2 steals per game. Defense doesn't often carry in this race, but it could be a differentiating factor in a year without a clear-cut favorite to point to.

NBA Sixth Man of the Year odds movement

After Hardaway began to pull away in this market, our best sportsbooks pivoted to Monk after his scintillating start to February ahead of the NBA All-Star break.

Expect Monk to maintain pole position for a few weeks, at least, though Hardaway or one of the other high-volume shooters in this race could surpass the Kings guard with a hot run in late February or early March. We have our eyes on the Hawks' Bogdanovic, though this is still a wide-open race with two months to go.
