Kyle Larson is on a mission to secure his second NASCAR Cup Series Championship in three years. But could there be another driver poised to claim the top spot in this market soon? Let's analyze the top 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds available through our best sports betting apps and discuss a wager that I'm making immediately.

Currently, the oddsboards unanimously place Kyle Larson as the favorite to win the NASCAR Cup Series Championship. However, being the front-runner on paper doesn't always mean he's the rightful favorite. I'm increasingly confident that we'll soon witness a new contender emerge and take the top spot.

While Larson undoubtedly poses a significant threat to the title, it's essential to seize opportunities when longer odds are available for a potential favorite. By placing a bet ahead of possible market shifts, we can position ourselves for favorable outcomes. That's why I'm adding William Byron to my futures portfolio, anticipating the odds will break in my favor.

Now, let's dive into the 2023 NASCAR Cup Series Championship odds provided from our best sports betting apps and explore the driver I believe is worth backing for the ultimate victory.

NASCAR Cup Series Championship Best Bet

William Byron (+750 via DraftKings)

There's a lot to discuss regarding my bet on Byron.

Firstly, Byron's dominance this season is undeniable, as he's leading NASCAR in both wins (three) and stage wins (seven). That success has resulted in Byron being projected to accumulate an impressive 27 playoff points, the highest among all drivers and 13 more than Larson. Additionally, he holds the second spot in the regular-season standings (with Larson in ninth), and Byron would be in first if not for a penalty that cost him 60 points. The significance of those playoff points is a key factor behind my support for Byron.

When placing a NASCAR futures bet, the goal is to secure favorable odds at our best sportsbooks on a driver and carry that advantage into the Championship 4. Race winners typically occupy three spots during that final round, assuming they come from playoff teams, while the remaining spot goes to the driver with the most playoff points.

That's when Byron's accumulation of playoff points becomes crucial. Even if he doesn't secure a victory, his points should position him well for a spot in the Championship 4. Not many drivers can rely on points alone this late in the playoffs, making Byron's situation advantageous.

So, what's significant about the +750 odds for Byron? Let's consider the odds from the 2022 Championship Race, when all drivers were listed at +330 or shorter:

DriverOdds to win via DraftKings (2022)
Chase Elliott+200
Christopher Bell+260
Ross Chastain+330
Joey Logano+330

Byron has also claimed a victory at Phoenix Raceway this season, the venue for the Championship race. With that in mind, I believe we not only secure a favorable price but also position ourselves well for a win.

Given Byron's previous win at Phoenix Raceway this season, there's a strong likelihood he'll emerge as the favorite among the four drivers who reach the Championship 4. That further enhances the appeal of the +750 price point, making it an even more valuable asset for us.

I'm placing my bet now because I believe DraftKings has made a pricing error, allowing us to secure better odds on Byron. Kyle Busch's recent win, combined with his popularity, prompted DraftKings to shorten his odds and allocate a larger portion of their hold percentage to him. However, as shown on the oddsboard, BetRivers and bet365 didn't follow suit, offering less favorable prices on Byron as a result. DraftKings' focus on Busch has created an opportunity for us to capitalize on Byron at +750.

I'm confident in my bet on Byron, and we're getting an opportunity to capitalize on DraftKings' pricing error. Byron will pose a significant challenge to Larson for the top spot on the oddsboard, especially once the market fully recognizes the playoff point disparity between the two drivers. Additionally, Byron's race win at Phoenix Raceway provides an added advantage, making our bet even more enticing.
