New York's Breanna Stewart might very well win the WNBA MVP award this season. She has a case for best player in the league, and could be a big reason why the Liberty ultimately win their first WNBA championship in the coming weeks.

But Stewart has not fared well in this matchup, particularly from deep. Stewart went 0-for-4 from long range in Game 1 last Friday, finishing with just 10 points in 38 minutes. This came after Stewart averaged 15.8 points per game and went 3-for-21 from deep in four regular-season matchups against Washington.

Stewart has failed to hit a 3-pointer in four of her five meetings with the Mystics, which includes the regular-season finale and the playoff opener. The Mystics, who have been one of the better defensive teams this season, clearly know how to make life difficult on Stewart.

The Liberty can live with that, especially with the way Sabrina Ionescu has been shooting this season. She went 7-for-13 from deep in Game 1, leading New York with 29 points. We are projecting Stewart to defer to Ionescu once again in a game that could end up getting out of hand.
