The Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers play the rubber match of their three-game series Thursday after a pair of close contests.

Los Angeles tries for its first win in its second try as a favorite in this series (-165 via Betway), but my Orioles vs. Dodgers predictions find more value in the game’s total.

While Shohei Ohtani took a massive step yesterday in the pursuit of becoming Major League Baseball’s first-ever 50/50 player with a home run (his 42nd) and two stolen bases (his 41st and 42nd), I find better value in a different Dodgers slugger’s market while facing southpaw Cade Povich.

First pitch from Dodger Stadium is set for 10:10 p.m. ET.

After Tuesday’s gutty 3-2 win over the Dodgers, Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said, “[Ramon Urias] has been our offense the last couple of weeks. We’re not swinging the bats now. We’re not scoring a ton of runs right now.”

Hyde was referring to a 10-game stretch during which the team produced more than seven hits just twice and was held to three or fewer hits four times. However, Baltimore still salvaged a 5-5 record in that span thanks to plenty of home runs, which the Orioles have hit 201 this season (the second-most in MLB).

With tonight’s starting pitchers (Povich and Bobby Miller) sporting ERAs of 6.10 and 7.49, respectively, both teams should have plenty of balls leaving the yard en route to a high-scoring slugfest.

Prediction: Gunnar Henderson to hit a home run (+475) ⭐⭐⭐

The Orioles have already eclipsed the 200-home run mark for the first time since 2019. They should be in for another power surge against Miller, who has allowed at least one home run in eight consecutive starts and multiple home runs in three straight.

Henderson’s 25 home runs against right-handed pitching are the second-most of any Orioles hitter, and Miller has allowed a .933 OPS to left-handed batters.

A winning $10 wager would pay out $57.50.

Prediction: Teoscar Hernandez Over 0.5 RBIs (+125) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Povich has been abysmal in three road starts, pitching to a 12.27 ERA and allowing 12 walks in 11 innings. Right-handed batters have a .917 OPS against him this season, and Hernandez has followed a five-game RBI drought with at least one RBI in four of the last six games.

This three-star play would be a more confident four-star play if Hernandez once again occupies the No. 3 spot in the Dodgers lineup (a prime spot hitting behind Shohei Ohtani and Mookie Betts), as the usual No. 3 hitter Freddie Freeman has been out of the lineup the last two days to rest a fractured middle finger.

A winning $10 wager would return $12.50 in profits.
