💰 Best NRFI bets today for Tuesday

Dodgers vs. Pirates NRFI (-130) - 6:40 p.m. ET

  • Eric Lauer (5.75 ERA) vs. Paul Skenes (2.83 ERA)
  • NRFI records: Dodgers (35-31) vs. Pirates (31-35)

I've never seen a NRFI I didn't like on Skenes bump day. The Pirates ace has allowed a run in the first inning just once over his last six starts and owns a 26% K rate against the Dodgers. It helps that Shohei Ohtani (2-for-11), Freddie Freeman (2-for-12), and Mookie Betts (0-for-9) are a combined 4-for-32 in their respective career against him. I'll take that. On the other side, I'll trust Lauer, especially since he's owned one of the Pirates' most deadly hitters in Bryan Reynolds (5-for-20) throughout his tenure as a Blue Jay. Let's fire this one up with confidence as part of our best NRFI bets today.

Yankees vs. Guardians NRFI (-115) - 6:40 p.m. ET

  • Gerrit Cole (2.00 ERA) vs. Slade Cecconi (4.92 ERA)
  • NRFI records: Yankees (30-35) vs. Guardians (39-29)

Cole's sample size against the Guardians is what draws me to this matchup. Over 112 plate appearances against them, he's limited Cleveland to a .256 xBA, which includes a 5-for-23 mark against leadoff man Steven Kwan. We'll take that to get us one of three outs. On the other side, Cecconi has been just as effective against the top of the lineup for New York, limiting Trent Grisham and Ben Rice to a combined 2-for-11 line. That'll play for us today.

💡 How I'm betting NRFI picks today (June 9)

Follow all of our MLB analysis and expert predictions for baseball season.

Placing a high-variance bet like a No Run First Inning (NRFI) requires a deep dive into the data every single day. You need to look at how the pitcher matches up with the lineup - specifically the top three hitters - while tracking strikeout rates, expected batting averages, and team NRFI trends. Run through this checklist before every wager, and scale your unit sizing accordingly.

❓ NRFI betting FAQ

What does NRFI mean in baseball betting?

NRFI stands for "No Run First Inning." It's a popular MLB bet that neither team will score in the first inning of a game, and the bet settles after just six outs (three per half-inning).

What does YRFI mean?

YRFI stands for "Yes Run First Inning" - the opposite of an NRFI. This MLB prop bet cashes if there's at least one run by either team in the first inning.

What should I look for when betting NRFIs?

Each team's starting pitcher is the biggest factor in cashing a NRFI bet, but you should also focus on each team's NRFI records (home vs. away) and each lineup's first-inning tendencies. Recent form can also play a bigger role than full-season numbers.,
