This LPGA season has been quite the rollercoaster for betting on major championships, with none of the favored players coming out on top so far. The Chevron Championship saw Lilia Vu triumph, Yin Ruoning claimed victory in the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, Allisen Corpuz emerged as the victor in the U.S. Women's Open, and Celine Boutier secured the Amundi Evian Championship title.

Will this pattern continue, or might we finally witness one of the favorites like Nelly Korda, Rose Zhang, Hyo Joo Kim, or Minjee Lee making it to the winner's circle? 

I'm placing my bet on a familiar name securing the victory in the fifth and final major championship of the LPGA schedule, as opposed to the long-shot winners we've witnessed to this point of the LPGA season

Jin Young Ko to win (+2500 via BetMGM)

When you place bets on the LPGA, it's very much a 'what have you done for me lately' market in terms of pricing. Consider Boutier, who has won back-to-back events. She is favored to win the AIG Women's Open. Merely two weeks ago, Boutier had odds of +4500 to win the Evian Championship. Now, she holds the shortest odds on the board at some of our best sports betting sites, sitting at +1400.

Jin Young Ko used to be among the favorites in the +1400 range for past major championships. However, her recent performance has not met her usual high standards, leading to her odds being adjusted to +2500. I find the decision by our best sportsbooks to push Ko's odds back this much interesting and one that I disagree with.

Ko secured victory in the Cognizant Founders Cup on May 11 and has achieved three top-20 finishes in her last five tournaments. While she might not be performing at her peak, she hasn't completely lost her form. Ko ranks second on the LPGA in strokes gained: total this season, with an average of 1.99 strokes gained per round. This is just 0.24 strokes behind the leader, Hyo Joo Kim, who has odds as short as +1100 to win this week.

Given that BetMGM is offering odds of +2500 for Ko, I will gladly take this bet. I understand the rationale behind lengthening her odds compared to earlier in the season, but I believe that +2500 is an over adjustment in her pricing.

Minjee Lee to finish top 10 (+225 via BetRivers)

The 2022 U.S. Women's Open Champion has consistently been on the cusp of victory at the AIG Women's Open over the years, yet has not been able to secure the win. Lee has achieved finishes of T-11 or better in every AIG Women's Open since 2018, suggesting her affinity for links golf. As she enters the AIG Women's Open, Lee maintains solid form, having secured a T-20 result or better in each of her last eight LPGA events. Furthermore, Lee holds the second position in the LPGA rankings for strokes gained: tee-to-green, boasting an average of 2.07 strokes gained per round.

When considering a bet on Lee, concerns about ball striking is never the issue; the key factor becomes her ability to sink putts. Lee is among those golfers whose performance hinges on the putter heating up over a weekend; if this occurs, her competitors will be in a lot of trouble. With Lee's history and current form in mind, placing a bet on her achieving a top 10 finish at the AIG Women's Open seems like an opportunity that cannot be overlooked.

Lee was a player I had set my sights on for this week. The fact that BetMGM offers odds of +185 for a top 10 finish, while BetRivers provides odds of +225, made it an easy decision.

Stephanie Kyriacou to finish top 10 (+750 via bet365)

Considering the strong performance of Australian golfers in links golf, I have been diligently monitoring Kyriacou's recent performances as the AIG Women's Open approaches. Over her last three tournaments, Kyriacou consistently achieved finishes of T-20 or better. Seeing this impressive level of play coming into the final major of the season, it's like the alarm bells are ringing, signaling that it's time for us to go shopping for Kyriacou's odds at the AIG Women's Open.

Kyriacou's current form is impressive, and like Lee, she boasts a solid track record at the AIG Women's Open. Over the past two years, she secured T-13 and T-7 finishes in this tournament. If you're looking to wager on Kyriacou, options include a top 20 bet at BetRivers with odds of +275, or an outright bet of +8000 via bet365. However, the odds that bet365 is offering for Kyriacou to finish within the top 10 are just too tempting to ignore, and that's precisely why I chose to take this route.

At BetMGM, Kyriacou's odds for a top 10 finish stand at +500, while BetRivers lists her at +600. Remarkably, bet365 provides odds of +750, offering a substantial difference compared to the +500 odds. This difference in pricing is not one to ignore. If BetMGM holds the belief that Kyriacou's odds should be trading at +500, it implies that its projection carries a 42% expected value when compared to the odds of +750 offered by bet365.
