The Oklahoma State Cowboys host the Utah Utes in a Big 12 matchup between two top-15 teams.

After missing last week’s game against the Utah State Aggies, Utes starting quarterback Cam Rising is expected to play on Saturday. His availability will impact game expectations when making this week’s Utah vs. Oklahoma State prediction based on odds from our best college football betting sites

Utah can compete with anyone in the nation if Rising is healthy. But will he be at 100% this week? And even if he is, how will the rest of the Utes perform against a very good Oklahoma State team in temperatures expected to be around 100 degrees?

Oklahoma State to cover the spread: -2 (-110) ⭐⭐

Utah vs. Utah State opening odds:

Something’s gotta give

This is an unbelievably hard game to pick. The Utes boast the 36th-ranked defense in the country, but they haven’t played any good offenses this season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are averaging the 18th-most yards in college football, but they have yet to play a defense this good.

What makes the Cowboys so dangerous is that they beat you through the air and on the ground. Alan Bowman has already posted 967 yards and eight touchdowns, while Ollie Gordon II has run for 216 yards and four touchdowns.

The X-factor in this game and for one of your Big 12 predictions is Rising. If he's healthy enough to perform to the best of his ability, then his presence will help the Utes sustain long drives. That will keep the Cowboys off the field and give the defense time to rest.

However, I don’t think Rising is completely healthy. And with how injury-prone he’s been throughout his career, the signal-caller could end up reaggravating his injury and getting pulled.

And even if he is himself, the heat in Stillwater is going to slow the Utes down and give the Cowboys just enough of an advantage to win this by a field goal.

Utah vs. Oklahoma State prop pick for Week 4

Our NEW college football player prop odds tool can help you find the best odds on any market across legal sportsbooks in your area!

Ollie Gordon II Under 85.5 rushing yards (-118) ⭐⭐⭐

Gordon has been very effective throughout his career, but he’s been struggling to start this season.

He ran all over the South Dakota State Jackrabbits in Week 1, but he’s looked mediocre at best over the last two weeks. Gordon is averaging just 2.6 yards per carry in those two games, and the competition hasn’t been that good.

The Utes are allowing over 120 yards rushing per game this season. But Rising’s presence will be enough to limit the number of drives the Cowboys get in this game. And Utah is only giving up 3.4 yards per carry this campaign.

Oddsmakers don’t usually make errors by a wide margin ahead of high-profile contests, but this total feels like it’s about 20 yards off. Only two of our best sportsbooks are offering it, with BetMGM posting under 80.5 for -115.

Take the extra five yards for the slightly worse price as part of your college football Week 4 predictions, just in case Gordon wakes up this week.
