Gl warrior, but you must have discipline. Ive always had it playing poker, not betting games though. I never have discipline. I'll run it up, then lose a couple games and then let it all ride on one bet. Then you know what happens, I lose. I am a small player on games and bet for fun. I wish i could have all the money back I've lost betting games.
Gambling destroyed my life

#146This kid is a classic loser and compulsive gambler thinking he can get rich off of sports gamblingGambling will not destroy your life if you treat it as something recreational.
Most folks will never feel miserable after losing in gambling, if they already know how much they're willing to lose monthly. Most folks I know to go to Vegas and happily lose 5 to 10k because they their just to have fun with that disposable income. You gamble to have fun, for the high, not to bet over your head and feel miserable after making a stupid pick with terrible money management.Comment -

I make over 40k a year so I say I have a fairly decent monthly salary. I don't go blowing my rent, car, and gas, money like this idiot. The most I reload monthly is no more than $400 dollars, that's it. I only go beyond that amount in the NFL playoffs. It's called disposable income son. Only lose what you can afford, it's really that simple.

#160Let's take a step back and look things from another point of view. Pretend you have a friend named The_City_Beast who owns and operates a small movie rental store in the Tenderloin District of SF. Each year he winds up losing money on the store. He also spends all of his time working from open till close, 7 days a week in the store. Despite several losing years, he remains convinced the Tenderloin District is a great area to have a video rental store and that soon sales will increase. What would you recommend this person do?Comment -

I've said it a million times on here: the chase is what gets us. The action. What you should concentrate on is turning a small profit every day. $20 a day on average is over $7,000 a year. $20. That's it. Sounds easy, but we all get caught up in chasing/doubling down/going for broke from time to time.

#169let the truth be known. Go ahead and rip me, judge me, i don't care anymore.
Truth is i probably deserve it.
I recently had a nice run where i won about 4 grand.
Gave most of it back, spent some and am left with nothing to write home about it yet again.
Yet thats not what im even talking about.
Gambling has destroyed my relationships with family, friends, it destroyed everything i have and ate through everything i had like termites.
The sad thing is i still believe that if i stay disciplined i can win, and that keeps me possibly going. The life i am currently living is agony and misery masked in a constant state of action and denial.
This is too deep and too disturbing to tell anyone in person of course as noone could possibly ever understand us and what we go through except unless of course you are one of us.
Gambling is evil. Noone wins in the long run. You have a nice run and you will end up giving it all back. Its inevitable.
We all have a disease people. We were all born with a goddamn disease.Comment -

#171You know what they say - if you continue what you've been doing and its not working for you, you're going to get the same results. If you want change, you have to change the way you've been doing things. I know how you feel. Its not just about losing, its about the shitty feeling afterwards and the TIME spent gambling and staring at ESPN.com constantly refreshing games to see if you're over/under hit and if your team beats the spread. Gambling is emotionally draining, and its difficult to focus on other things if you are too deeply invested in it. I could have been studying rather than refreshing ESPN until my set of games end. I am in a dual doctorate & masters program right now and had a close call this semester that could have potentially thrown it all away by investing much time and emotion in gambling. Thankfully, everything worked out well. This season, I'm up around $5k. Bought myself some Mizuno JPX-800s irons, a new Ping driver, amongst many many many other things. But honestly is it worth it? $5k vs $120k after graduation. I have come to realize that emotional roller coaster from gambling is not for me. You're 30, its late but its not too late to stop. You keep at it and don't change, it will be too late.Comment -

#173Warrior... Have an open mind and just give my advice a shot. You have to work hard at anything you do. THERE IS NO EASY MONEY!! Everyone who is sucessful works hard in some form or fashion. But all that aside you seem like you need a life change. If you take this one step I PROMISE you it will change your life, not immediately, but slowly and drasticly if you allow it to. You will not become rich or happy right away, but in time, with some effort your life WILL be changed. I can tell you this in full confidence because I have been there before. With my face in my hands and nowhere to turn, no money, no friends, no hope. But by doing this one thing, my life has turned around and I am one of the happiest, most gracious people around... This is what I did... I bowed my head and prayed. I asked Jesus to help me, I gave complete control of my life to God. It has totally changed my life. I'll be praying for you. And please realize, you do not have to clean up your life before you talk to God. He will help you clean it up, just ask for his love and help. We are all sinners we all mess up and I still mess up everyday, 10x a day. But in the end I read my Bible, pray to God and could not be more blessed. I hope you have Faith in God. He wants to help you if you let him.Comment -

#175The responses in this thread are great. From the guys telling you to man up and get back in the game to this priest telling you to watch church online. I got a kick out of most of them.
What you need to do is either get some self control or quit gambling. Those are the only choices.Comment
