#19813No, there's no violence involved. People losing their jobs isn't something to cheer, but in a good week, over 200,000 Americans apply for initial unemployment benefits. What those government workers are getting is normal in an economy, and we do need to cut spending for the country's long term sustainability.Comment -

#19814It's not irrelevant, and people didn't live in a different kind of squalor here. People here had a significant increase in their standard of living when they left Europe and came here. The reason for that is free market capitalism.
We've moved away from capitalism. I know you've said this is late stage capitalism, but it's more late stage democracy. We're at the point where people trade freedom and property so they can have more temporary comfort promised by the politicians.
It will improve the standard of living in the long term if we can get the deficit and debt under control. We're on an unsustainable path, and we're going to have to make changes or this is all going under. I'm assuming you don't mean economic freedom but the economic means to do something. Those are totally different things, having power and being free from the power of others.
Yeah, there will be if we keep losing freedom and private property rights. We were about 150,000 voters in 3 states from having President Harris, a few swing races in the House and Senate from having VP Walz break the tie to ban the filibuster and pack the court with judges that will put me in jail for speaking out about the Harris Administration.
You should be condemning Kelly's cheering politically motivated arson attacks, also known as terrorism.
Outside of the occasional candy bar, I don't think I eat any of that stuff.
Democracy is not an economic system. This makes no sense.
I'm talking about the New Bill of Rights FDR wanted to put in place.
Your still not clear on what you mean by (individual freedom and private property rights)
Your more likely to be jailed under Trump than Harris.
Don't be an asshole and people won't lite your shit on fire.
What you eat is Anecdotal. Capitalism is not 10 companies controlling all those brands. It's corporatism.Last edited by khicks26; 03-04-25, 06:42 PM.Comment -

They are not cutting stuff to help the country. They are taking from poor people to give rich people another tax cut.Comment -

#19820Significant Increase? You wouldn't last a day living like those people had to.

Democracy is a political system, but it can have major influence on the economic system. That's what we have now, roughly 70% of all federal spending is transfer payments. Those wouldn't be needed if the politicians did a good job with our money, but it's politically profitable to be inefficient to get votes.
FDR's 2nd Bill of Rights is flat out nonsense, it works under the false assumption that there's enough to meet the material needs of all people, but we don't produce enough to come close to ending global poverty. According to the World Bank, global GDP per capita in 2023 was $13,138.33. To put that in context, US Federal government spending per capita in 2023 was $18,388. FDR believed everyone had a right to a job that paid a high enough wage to give everyone adequate food, clothing, medical care, and recreation, and every family a decent home. That means that someone has to hire them whether they want to or not, and pay them a living wage whether or not they're capable of producing that much. That's opposite what I mean by private property rights. My LLC is my property, and I shouldn't have to turn it into a charity because politicians screwed up and didn't give people a decent education.
I am if I'm a criminal. I've been highly critical of Trump's tariffs but I have no fear of retaliation like I would if I misgendered under a Harris administration.
Let's see how that standard holds up in court. You better hope people that post here don't think that about you or your house might get torched.
What is the proper number of companies to control those brands? How are people being hurt by it?
They are cutting to cut the deficit. Are you seriously claiming government employees around DC are poor?Comment -

The reality is Hareeba's a democrat, not an American. He doesn't care about the policies that make America better, just that the democrats are in charge, even if they have to burn it to the ground to rule the ashes.
Did you not see my graph? The yield curve inverted under Biden. Every time you get a quarterly inversion, you have a recession.Comment -

#19822So to be clear, the economy of 2019, with the lowest poverty rate in history, had nothing to do with Trump and everything to do with what he inherited from Obama. Obama losing millions of jobs his first year had nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with what he inherited from Bush. The economy of February 2025, less than 2 weeks after Trump took over from Biden, has nothing to do with Biden and everything to do with Trump, despite Trump not passing any major economic legislation. We had an inverted yield curve for 2 years under Biden, and every prior quarterly inversion preceded a recession, but ignore that, it's all Trump's fault!Comment -

37 trillion debt, billions in government waste, and millions in the country illegally. You don't just snap your fingers and its all resolved. Doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is insane.

#19840How long I would live is not the argument. We weren't called the land of opportunity because we were a terrible place to live, we were called that because we created the highest standards of living up to that point in history for the average person. That is the result of capitalism

You know what has a major influence on our economy and politics? Money, that why the government is run by billionaires. That has nothing to do with democracy. Nobody voted for Elon to cut everyone's benefits so he could take them for his self.
No it's not. It would be better for you and your LLC. Look dude I know you hate paying tax's and think you did it all on your own. That's just not the truth, without society, infrastructure, public education, and many other things. You wouldn't have an LLC.
Culture war BS is just that BS. You guys really need to stop with that garbage. Trump tariffs are a way to get more money for the government so he can keep his trillion dollar tax cuts he gave rich people. It's a sales tax that the 99% can't afford and the 1% don't give a shit about because it doesn't affect them.
A little farfetched don't you think. I might piss off 4 or 5 clown on here. Elon is pissing off most of the country. Besides I have insurance just like Elon does.
I don't know a number where they can't get together and fix prices. Dude we just went though an inflation that a good part of it was corporate price gouging.
They are taking away food stamps, Medicare, public schools, SS by cutting workers needed to run those programs. I don't think they are poor but they more than likely live like the rest of us that lives paycheck to paycheck. WOW I can't believe you are this disconnected to what is really going on.Comment -
