Removing the commemorative Congressional Gold Medal awarded to the law enforcement officers who defended the Capitol on January 6th from the Mint website is far from the most egregious erasure of the insurrection, but it is another sign of deep disrespect.

#19744Dude, there's no reason for these companies to invest in America and they're not. Trader Joe's sells food they are not manufacturing anything.
I doubt any company pays 21% and 21% is a joke to begin with. The Avg worker pays more than that.
Well, we are not country we were in the 50s 60s and it's been downhill since the late 70's. Capitalism has moved on to China as GDP shows. So not sure what history you are using.
What you have here is financialization and monopoly, service sector jobs no benefits and part time, and as I told you, now they are coming for SS as the vid I posted above shows.
Go ahead and say its the government, because the government is run by a bunch of billionaires.
There would be a reason to invest here if it was easier to make money here than Mexico or China. We've been through this before, everyone agrees with the concept behind supply side economics. Corporations are outsourcing to Mexico and China to take advantage of lower costs of business. Those lower costs of business mean bigger corporate profits. All supply siders want to do is lower the cost in America and allow us to undercut Mexico, China, and other countries like Canada, Korea, Japan, Germany, England, etc, and have those jobs, factories, and investments made over here. Trader Joe's sells a lot of its brand products. I don't know the exact supply chain for it, but they could own their own farms.
So what if the average worker pays over 21%. Are you trying to do what's best for America or hammer corporations even if it will hurt America?
That's true, we weren't what we were in the 50s, 60s, and 70s, but as I've pointed out before, we had a military draft that acted as a de facto trade school for a lot of the men in this country. Here's the Pew Research study that shows households headed by a military vet with a high school diploma or less make about 35%-40% more money than households headed by someone who isn't a vet with the same education. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-re...-non-veterans/We also had much of the rest of the world reeling from WW2, going into communism like the USSR or China, or democratic socialism like India, or they were under the threat of being invaded by a communist country, like the places in W Europe.
What we have is an education system that fails 80% of the people that go through it because there's little political profit to be made by fixing it. If instead of English Literature and Composition, PE, art classes, etc., we taught trades and got kids associate certificates by the time they graduated high school, they'd be making much more money and we'd have a higher quality of life. Do you know why we can't? The NEA is dead set against it, and the democrats take orders from the NEA, and if they couldn't run on class warfare, what do they have left? Defund the police, men can get pregnant, women dressing up like Handmaiden's Tale extras, repeal the industrial revolution, & open the borders. That's not a winning strategy.
This is where we are headed. MAGA for the 1%.

The funny thing is that in the 1800s, we were known around the world as the Land of Opportunity, and tens of millions of people willingly got on boats and willingly moved here. They didn't do that to be exploited, they did it because we created the highest standards of living up to that point in history. If you disagree, tell me where it was better and why people were moving here and not there.
Maybe watch Gangs of New York it's pretty close to how life was at that time.Comment -

Please answer the following questions:
Why did all those people willingly move here?
Why did those people then send for their friends and family to join them, not rescue them and bring them back home?
Where was it better for the average person at the time in history?

Maybe all that's true, but even if it was. It doesn't make the 1800's a great time in history.

#19759Where was it better up to that point in history? Your whole criticism seems to be that free market capitalism didn't fix what was before it fast enough, so we need to revert to something that has a worse track record and tweak it until we get utopia. Don't refuse the best real option for the ideal false option.

Capitalism is what happens when people have a lot of individual freedom and private property rights. How many monopolies can you name that happened without government intervention and protection? I can think of 1, Alcoa Aluminum, and it came about because it was able to operate at such a low price, no company could afford to enter the market to compete with them. One of the best ways to prevent monopolies is through free trade.
My argument is the most progressive, we should protect individual freedom and private property rights. That's the best way to increase the standard of living for people.
There won't be blood in the streets when the average people are doing better than they've ever done before if we would adopt a more capitalist system.Comment -
