The problem I have with requiring face coverings by state/local ordinances is they don’t provide free and easy access to masks. They’re still incredibly difficult to obtain and prices are jacked. Hell people have to wrap undershirts around there face to go into a restaurant to get their takeout, for example.

Don’t get me wrong, personally I’m fine regarding face coverings. I’m in medical so I get them free and pretty much daily.

Ive had people complain to me even regarding finding cloth, bandanas, Etc to use as a covering. My recommendation is to cut up and use old clothing. I honestly don’t think it’s very difficult you don’t even really have to be all that resourceful but I try not to judge anybody’s situation

Not sure where you live but go on eBay. My work requires I wear a mask so I bought 3 clothes masks in April from 3 different sellers and spent less than $30.

A couple reasons, at that time:
1. They didn't comprehend the primary method of transmission\
2. They were (unduly) afraid that people would rush out hoard all the PPE needed by health care workers.

Shooting from the hip is also known as responding to incoming data on a novel virus. We now know for a fact that it helps. That's all that matters now.
