Seriously? Nearly everyone I know has caught a cold this year, I would expect the same outcome for them with corona as it was with their last cold. Why would I expect different? Give me one reason?

My only worry is some of the 80 years + that I know, but honestly, I'm just as worried about any respiratory dominant cold and especially the flu with them.

corona virus doesn't change that at all. This isn't the black plague, it's a previoulsy unidentified cold virus, albeity a notorious one now.

I don't disagree with what you're say by any means. However, we may still end up having to keep people home and shut things down. In Westchester county, NY the number keeps going up. It was 1, then 10, now 20+ and it's going to keep getting bigger and bigger. I'm stocking up on food and water for the bare minimum of 45-60 days for me and my family. I think that's a pretty responsible thing to do. My wife stays home and I can work from home pretty much anytime I want. We can stay in our homes for a while without needing to go anywhere. Not everyone can do that.

Schools are already shutting down, churches, people are already panicking. Whether you believe the hype or not there are still going to be problems for the everyday person if containment isn't viable.

Yeah, this will happen and I don't disagree with it, some of population is vulnerable. There will be disruption. It's one thing to recognize the problems it can cause to society like you are and it's another to think we're dealing with the bubonic plague.

The good news is that even though there is a mutation, mutations are rare with coronavirus because they have a built in correcting mechanism, essentially.

But yeah, as it spreads, localities will do what they do. I would expect it where I am as well.

Hear me out..China once had a law you can only have one baby per family, they had to lift that because they didn't have enough young laborers to work the physical jobs. Old Chinese couldn't keep up..

So to thin out the population you create a virus that targets the old. That's one way to thin out the Chinese over population..

Yes, if I were sick and tested positive, I wouldn't be too worried, but I would be conscious not to reckelssly spread it too.

There will be many who get it and don't even know. Some hardly experience symptoms even if they carry it and are contagious.

Seems like you don't understand coronavirus at all. It's not dangerous because of how fatal or miserable it is to have for the average individual person -- they're saying 80% cases are very mild. It's dangerous on a global scale because it's contagious as hell and there are models showing it could eventually infect nearly everyone

If your worst enemy got coronavirus they'd probably be fine... unless you got a major grudge against an elderly person

Because the potential for a lot more deaths like the flu x 10(via sheer numbers impact on immuno compromised)

Plus the inevitable shut down of economies and cloggging of health care.

Also since it's a relatively unknown virus that we are still learning about there is always the potential for mutations or even longer term impacts from the current strain

I'm with ya man. They are saying 2 to 3% that get this virus will die. Like I said the experts also claimed this virus is 3x stronger then your average flu bug..

Younger people have died from this already.. So pick 2 or 3 numbers out of 100 blind and have a friend chose a number that you don't know and see if it lands.. Those are your odds based on the percentages especially if you are older.
