wow, I recently had an almost exact situation. I became violently ill with a gallbladder attack, rushed to the hospital via ambulance and my heart spiked and that is the last thing I remember. Woke up four days later and was told I had sepsis and one more hour I would have been dead. Pumped up for 10 days with antibiotics and it was touch and go. During this time period I was positive that one nurse was attempting to kill me and that chickens and other animals were running around my room. I also thought that I was home and my son must have sold my house to the hospital. I too was very scared.

I was too frightened to even tell anybody about these thoughts except my son, he just kept reassuring me that I was just a little confused and things would be fine. Later an actual psychiatrist came to see me and I convinced him that all was well. I later was informed that often people who are very ill often fall into what they call hospital psychosis.

Your life can change in a split second. One minute you are fine and the next minute you are critical, we sometimes forget that. I will tell you this I never want to experience that again.

My goodness... What a coincidence. I didn't know anyone else experienced that. I was also afraid to tell anyone but my wife and the doctor. I was so relieved when I finally came to my senses but those few days were the most frightening of my life. There is nothing worse than losing your mind.

My college roommate snapped. He was perfectly fine one minute then snapped in an instance. The pressure of school, football and a horrible girlfriend pushed him over the edge. I woke up one night and he was standing over me in the dark. Scared the shit out of me. Asked him what was wrong and he said another friend was trying to kill him. WTF? Called that other friend who had no clue what was happening. Roommate was afraid to leave the house, stayed up for 3 days straight as I tried to talk sense to him. Story changed and several other people were trying to kill him as well. I called his family and he ends up taking his car and kept going forward and backwards in traffic. I had to call the police. They took him down and Baker act him, where they arrest him and move to a mental hospital for 3 days. I talked to the doctor and he told me that EVERYONE will have a mental episode. We all have bouts of schizophrenia but normal people come out of it. He said have I ever been by myself but felt someone else was in the room? That's a mental episode. Or the hair stand on your arms out of fear for no reason? That's a bout of schizophrenia. Most people come back to reality but when that's blurred, that's when people have problems.

Being right there with him and seeing him crack, was like watching someone become possessed by a demon. It definitely felt like a spiritual event that you read in the bible. Come to find out that his mom was also Schizophrenic. He was a great athlete but the meds really did a number on him. He was slow and lethargic when on them. If he forgot to take them he went nuts. He always felt that he didn't need it but he REALLY needed it. Put a gun in his hands and anyone near him would be fukked.

That's nuts and yes people snap under to much pressure, I think we all do have breaking points..

I've never experienced losing my mind, however I did experience severe depression for about a month after a major concussion.. Took me about month to recover and snap out of that, I knew what it was though but it was tough to handle.. Thoughts of dread consumed me constantly but I battled and got through it. I put on a happy smile and didn't tell anyone, I never left the house really... I just waiting for it go away and it finally did.. That was crazy because I'm typically a happy and positive person by nature and I had never experienced real depression in my life up until then.. It was an eye opener for sure!!!..

I don't own a gun because I know how my temper is, first a-hole that cuts me off in traffic would get their tires shot out! No seriously, I would have emptied the cartridge on my ex when my marriage ended. But that's just me. If you want to own a gun, you should be able to own a gun. That being said, you should have to carry a permit for every gun you purchase, have to pass a safety course for that said gun and go through extensive backround checks including a mental health check like they do in Japan. What's helping catch criminals is there are more camera's going up around businesses and even in the mean streets.. Cops are catching more of the bad guys now because of that.. Violent crime offenders are starting to think twice about shooting people in the streets now because they know they will get caught on camera..
