And it means educated tradespeople and skilled workers can start to expect $20/hr as a minimum.

try to imagine the billions of extra dollars rolling over in the small economy!

There isn't going to be a huge jump in unemployment Brooksy... you are the sheep sucked in by the scare tactics.

USA can afford to pay its workers properly. Really you can. And in the fullness of time it will actually mean more jobs as more people will be prosperous. A reversal of the wage gap that cannot be stopped once America starts and then keeps increasing it with inflation each and every year.

I see all this in real life Brooksy.

None of your doomsday scenarios even interest me. I know what happens with higher min wage in every country that adopts the mantra from first hand experience. However different America may be it isnt so different that this is going to have the polar opposite result of every other nation that is above average in the western world.

USA is lucky this is happening.

I can be wrong but I'm genuinely not stupid Brooksy. ;-)

You'll need to trot out some of your math or something rather than just relying on calling me dumb.

this whole post is literally an example of how stupid you are on the subject, again not an insult. Just a fact since it is clear you have spent NO time studying the subject.

A little more money to many people can actually change an economy fast. An extra 100 million to a corporate does almost nothing to change things.

And don't get sucked in by the corporate rhetoric about it causing job losses.

They will automate jobs away at exactly the same speed as they planned to before.
Literally, every line in that post is 100% wrong. Not a joke or an opinion. You don't know either way though because as we have clearly shown; you are uneducated on the subject. Here is your logic; "hey it is hot outside and it is Wednesday, I guess Wednesday's are hot days. " That is literally all you have brought to this thread, your illogical opinion. Think about that, see if you can beat down your ego and understand you really have no idea what you're talking about.

and again, you proved my point.

It is not "my math," it is well researched and you just proved again by acknowledging you don't know it. But, yeah, your logic is really sound there considering you admit you have no idea what the "math" says and are asking me to provide it. That is a really solid thought process you got there!

"hey I'm going to say something stupid that makes no logical sense and you can go spend time proving me wrong!"

I get that, but the raising of the minimum wage to at least inflation levels would trickle up to you eventually.
You'd like more money right? How about if our debt is lowered? After that, lower taxes. You'd like that? I would.
A ton of people who spend the time effort and money to learn something in college make not much over $15/hr so ends the wrong message about effort in my opinion. By this logic if you pay no skill wages at $15 and skilled at $21 then let's say $45/hr for those other guys too....fair right?

My link above showed the average at over $20 an hour. It didn't break it down to educated, skilled or not.

A friend of mine, no more education than high school, makes $45 an hour operating a crane. I make $40
an hour per job. (need more jobs) I'm not anymore educated than he is.

I'm still waiting for people to take my challenge. Add up all your bills, divide by the hours you work will
give you what you need per hour to live. I'll go 1st. My wife and I split our bills, I need $10 an hour at
40 hours a week to pay for my 1/2.

Just for health insurance is $4 an hour. Food is at least $4 an hour. Right there is $8. $7.25 is minimum.
                    See my point?

Well I'm bored, waiting for Disney's D23 event tomorrow, so I'm going to break your post down with logic as usual. Like before, you're on "our" side but just won't accept it because of some moral code you have. Let me show you..

Oh is that so? So you, a man above 40( so your friend more than likely also older than 40,) make over $40 an hour... you don't see the common denominator there? Years of experience at a skilled position.

You seem to think it is education vs non-education, no idea where that came from. It is skilled labor vs non-skilled labor. You and your friend are literally a walking example of why you should not raise minimum wage. Your very existence shows that. It is about skilled labor.

ok what is $4an hour food cost you keep saying? Are you saying you need to make at least $4an hour to cover your food? If so, let me politely tell you, you're terrible at managing money and need to hire someone to buy groceries for you. You'll save money in the long run even paying a middle man if you need $4an hour to cover your food cost. So obviously I assume that is not what you mean because that would be absurd, so what do you mean about this "food is at least $4 an hour?"

they already do... so again, you don't know what you're talking about. Don't get upset, just acknowledge the obvious. Plus, they don't live in one of THE MOST expensive countries to live in, in the world like you.

Come on Brooksy. You tell everyone to use a calculator, but you don't use one.

Do you still live at home? Does mommy cook for you? If not, what do you pay for food a month? Divide that
by how many hours you work a month. If you buy $500 of food a month and divide that by 160 hours that
comes out to $3.12 an hour for food. If you work less hours it costs more for food.

You could use the same formula to see how much an hour you are working for the worthless, lazy people
you despise. Consider this a public service to you and your buddies......nothing I like more than exploding
                          your little heads.

I do live in an expensive country, we can afford it like the USA could, and it works. Because we are consumption based economies and unlike what Ragan thought we need strategies to push everyone up from the bottom rather than hope money trickles down from the top. Why? because that creates consumption and spreads wealth. A dollar turned over 10 times in the small business economy does more good for you and me than $10 to the corporate bottom line.

Every working person in this country earns more than a 20 year experienced tradesman baker in the USA. Everyone can afford can afford to pay for non govt subsidized gas prices and food prices.

Can you explain some of your math for me? Seriously. You appear to have made no argument so far.

Saw a funny meme yesterday of a fast food worker in the drive thru window captioned "demands $15/hr for her effort, can't even remember to stick a straw in my bag" nailed it

It's a simple formula really, or should be, if you want to demand a particular wage/salary then you need the leverage of bringing a value to the negotiating table. Amazes me these guys walk in and apply for a low skill job that 50 other applicants want and some of them say...I know those other 40 or so dudes will do this job for your advertised wage but you know...I think I should get it at double rate cause I got bills and stuff man so what do ya say?

You actually pull out a calculator and decide hmm how is this going to affect me big picture? Morons like you actually think you're getting more money... poor ignorant, sheep.

Internal documents released late Friday show that managers at the Environmental Protection Agency were aware of the potential for a catastrophic “blowout”

Look what the Dems did to your environment, you know what? you should give the EPA more money, yeah that is a good idea rkelly.

No wonder I make you sick. I was in a union for 15 years. The last 5 years I was vice pres and shop steward.
As a shop steward, I saved a few jobs. In your case, saving yours would be a tough sell.

Without the EPA all that waste water would've been in the river anyway. Not like it was done on purpose,

You're correct that what goes a long way in Tupelo, Mississippi won't pay for nearly as much as it would in larger metro areas. That's the flaw in the argument with these protests held in NYC and LA promoting forced raises federally. Fast food places are franchises mainly so that has to come into play when voting...if you want more options to pop up nearby you gavectovaeigh that in your vote to do politically at the voting booth. It also bleeds into all small businesses if you make it law that all wages should start at $15....it sounds great to those protesters but it's not the most well thought out plan. In the end this is in reality a union backed thing exploiting these workers to shout and scream against the non unionization of the McDonald's and WalMarts of the business world. Pressuring.
