#213that's what i was referring to earlier, most guys go broke, so if you walk away with cash, even a little less than what you started with, you've accomplished something. JJ is a goofball, but a wise one at that.Comment -

#214MrMarket, i also think your right in some ways. I feel more comfortable broke than I do when I have money, when I have money I have to be gambling and that puts a lot of pressure on me. Naturally when the pressure is off I feel some relief. I have to find a way to fix this issue otherwise i feel i will be back again eventually. I have been able to quit for a couple months at a time but never longer than that, once the pain of the last bust wears off and I have some money I tend to go back. I can't let myself go back this time.Comment -

#215i've had a lot of great responses on the gambling therapy forum. There are a lot of people who have conquered the addiction and have been gamble free for 2-3 years or even more. It's very inspiring, also their dedication is incredible, to still be working hard to not gamble after many years is unbelievable. I can only hope to match their intensity.Comment -

#21624 hours gamble free. I was able to enjoy the suns/lakers game without betting on it. Was hoping for a suns upset just for the fact that it would make the series more competitive.Comment -

#217most of my losses where playing live poker in casinos.
Endoftime, in minnesota they have this law that says max bet $60 so there is no, no limit tables. So i end up playing limit at canterbury, im absolutely terrible at limit and i get absolutely destroyed
(8/16-15/30) 30/60 if im really tilted

#218Being a non losing gambler takes special qualities and characteristics. I have found what it takes but only through multible failures. Failure is not a bad thing but a learning experience. It is quite obvious that OmgUrMom has taken notice and surely will make adjustments. Problem is at this stage he will not make enough of them on his own. He is still in his infant years several years away from winning if left on his own. Just too many adjustments need to be made and most he isn't even aware of yet. I do not believe OmgUrMom is capable of stopping therefore it is best to help him move forward. Failure is title given to only those whom quit. This is written in response to MrMarket.Comment -

This isn't some goddamn infomercial Tony Robbins style where everyone can be an eventual winner. You would think that this site is infested with sharps by the way some people boast but the reality is that the majority of these people are just lying to themselves and others for whatever twisted psychological reason that brings them the most pleasure. Only a few % of people can be successful betters long term and these do not include those incapable of excising simple self control.Comment -

#222Forget the past losses! Go down to Walgreens and get a 100+ page notepad and begin your win-loss journal starting at 0$ today. All you do is note deposits and withdrawals, not wins and losses. I got so sick of everyone doubting that you can win at sportsbetting. I've been faithfully documenting since Jan. 1st 2010 and it's helped me transition from being an action player into a value player. This is about the fourth time I've started a journal. The first time I tried to record every win and loss but that's too much paperwork and accounting. Don't give up, just learn discipline. I keep my smashed laptop to remind me how far I've come. DISCIPLINE! Achieving it actually feels better than winning. Telling yourself you're not going to play today (or you're not going to tamper with this account or that account until you get a payout) and sticking to it really does give you a better feeling than winning. It's not pleasant to make negative entries into your journal and consequently it will make you a better gambler.Comment -

#227omg please listen to the advice of those who say to quit rather than those with advice about getting back to gambling.
it's clear that with what you've said (from what i know) that you are a compulsive gambler with a subconscious desire to lose, like most compulsive gamblers. like al pacino in "two for the money" you lose it all but are still alive and well, relieving pressure.
i know it will be tough but maybe find something else you like to do - i was headed to the casino today and talked myself into a detour to an imax movie instead. it was a small decision but one that made me proud of myself.
a ton of small decisions add up to a change in behavior.
i wish you wellComment -

Even if i completely quit coming here I know i would run into temptations to start playing again anyways, so my thought was that if i can still use this site without gambling that will make me stronger in the long-term. Is this bad logic?Comment -

#242Play with points. I did during football & basketball season because I could place in & win contests and got some cool stuff from the store. Now I cant keep any points because I suck at bases.
What I'm saying is join the weekly contests for baseball, bet your points in the book, it gives you the thrill of gambling. Then you can get a freeplay and nothing is ever coming out of your pocket but you're gamblingComment -
