Very good qb, but not even in the top 15 of all-timers to many huge int's in big games! The best of the best don't do that.

I think Favre scrambling in the backfield like Roman Gabriel did with the Rams and Donovan McNabb did with the Eagles, created many heart stopping moments. I've seen a few 40 year old women with good looks that put 20 year old women to shame, and Favre as a 40 year old man plays the game better than alot of 20 year old men. It's the passion that you bring to any playing field that matters.

I live in Minnesota and watched Favre last year
winning game after game...flinging some 30 touchdown
                            passes...

People up here were all giddy saying things like ,....OK..this is the year
                            Vikings win the Super Bowl...

But even as all this was going on.....I was not at all excited...Not one tiny bit...

                            You see...this was Brett Favre......Brett " fukking " Favre...

I knew....I KNEW he would at the end just totally SCREW his teams chances
at winning AGAIN by pulling ANOTHER stupid and idiotic play out of his ass for
                            all the world to see....

Of course ....Brett Favre does not disappoint when asked to prove why he is the
most overrated NFL player in history.....

No he is not that great he is a Hall of Famer yes, but there are at least 15 qbs you take before him. Do you really want Farve to have the ball in his hands at the end of a game knowing he is going to force it in no matter what cause that is what he has always done, except for last year, then it just showed up in the biggest game of the Vikes year!

Favre is a great QB. Played the position like a LB. Played hurt & never missed a game. He's tougher than any QB in the league.

He never missed a game, because of luck! look at Marino he had like 175 str games played then blew out his achillies and was never the same on a completly freak play. Luck plays a ton into it.

is ...........the number of Super Bowls he has won...

Forget records....Tarkenton, Marino and Favre have the majority
of QB records...but there is only 1 Super Bowl won by that group..

                                    ------------------

                                    won by

                                    4 wins Terry Bradshaw
                                    4 wins Joe Montana

                                    2 wins Ben Roethlisberger
                                    2 wins Bob Griese
                                    2 wins Jim Plunkett

                                    2 wins Bart Starr

Brett Favre has won 1 Super Bowl...so essentially
he is mired in a vast group of 17 other 1 Super Bowl
                                    game winners..

                                    Is that Greatness...

The last 3 NFC Championship games for Favre have been total disaster..

At Philadelphia....in OT...he throws a ridiculously ill conceived pass to
the only player that could catch it....an Eagle safety..and Eagles Win..

At his own fabled Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field...against a team who
has just won 3 road games in the playoffs...hard to win 4...But leave
it to Favre...in OT ..he throws another stupid interception and Giants Win!

And just last year,,,he teases again.....Driving for a winning FG in the
NFC Title game....he throws an unbelievable archaic cross body pass
and the Saints easily pick it off...and win in OT...

                                    Is this Greatness ??

I have always hated the Green Bay Packers ....and if it was late in a game
that they could win....more times than not....I knew Farve would do something
                                    stupid...and cost them the game..

Look at Favre..in playoff games....have you ever seen a QB fumble as much
as he does to lose critical games..remember the Ram playoff game..

Favre has longevity...has records ...has what 17 other QB's have...he has 1 Super
                                    Bowl win.....

But as far as I am concerned...he was just a bafflin, bumblin, buffoon hillybilly..

He lost just as many big games as he won.....he was just like a ticking time bomb,
you knew it was just a matter of time before he would disintegrate..

I just hope now....he just stays retired....

Favre.....slightly above average quarterback with records that are just for show.

had a chance to win.....but on 4th down, minutes to go in the
game....he floated a short wounded duck pass in the flat to NOBODY....lol

and there are so many more...none of his losses to Dallas are listed here..

                                      Date: Jan. 20, 2008
                                      Score: Giants 23, Packers 20
Why It Mattered: On a frigid night in Green Bay and with a Super Bowl berth on the line, Favre faded badly in the second half of the NFC Championship game. He ended his Packer career with an ugly overtime interception to Corey Webster that the Giants converted into the game-winning field goal. Favre said good-bye to Green Bay looking old, cold, and indifferent.

Why It Mattered: The hype for the "Brett Favre vs. Kurt Warner" showdown in the NFC playoffs was huge, but Favre delivered one of the worst postseason quarterback performances in history, tossing six interceptions with two returned for touchdowns.

Why It Mattered: Minnesota visited Lambeau Field as a lightly regarded, 8-8 Wild Card team. The Packers were division champs on a late season roll. Favre responded with yet another playoff stinker, throwing four interceptions. The bad taste of this game carried over into a disastrous 2005 and led to the firing of coach Mike Sherman.

Green Bay never got on track offensively, Atlanta jumped out to a big lead, and Favre killed any second half comeback attempt with poor play—a lost fumble and an interception in Green Bay's first home playoff loss in history.

                                      Score: Eagles 20, Packers 17
Why It Mattered: Favre led Green Bay to a first-quarter advantage in this NFC playoff contest, then seemingly disappeared for the rest of the game. Handed a chance to win in overtime, Favre heaved an ill-advised pass into the hands of Philly's Brian Dawkins. The Eagles converted the pick into the game-winning field goal.

I would like to add Number 6.

Last years;s NFC Championship against the Saints...Long story..short..
Favre threw ANOTHER interception late in the game that cost the Vikings
                                      a chance for a win....

Some knowledgeable posts and some ridiculous ones.

If it were not for Jerry Glanville, Ron Wolf or Don Majkowski he probably would never had ever started a game in the NFL. His greatest achievement is the game streak, not much after that. In an NFC championship game like the Giants and Saints and you make throws like that, unforgivable. Giants, 5 receivers, 4 wide open and throw to the only one covered. Saints, you know what happened. The reason he got treated the way he did in GB is because he deserved it. Prima donna did not go out the way he wanted and had a hard on for Ted after he drafted Aaron. If you were such a 'team' guy why not help a rook along instead of basically ignoring him? Why have your own locker room and not shower with the team? Why not show up for camp? No athlete is bigger than the game but somehow he thinks that is the case and so does the ignorant media. Has a gamblers mentality and it has shown when it REALLY matters. The retirement game happens because it can. Needs to go out on his lame ass without making the playoffs if he honors us with his presence this year.

Great quarterback. You cannot say Marino was not good. Just because he did not win a Super Bowl. He was on teams that had holes. Favre is and was a great quarterback. Not too many play 20 years and at such a high level.

                                                        Brett Favre Is Amazing

he makes the NFL. its just not the same without him. i mean, hes been here for almost 20 years and his latest year was his best. so in essence, he doesn't get old, he just gets better.

He ended his Packer career with an ugly overtime interception to Corey Webster that the Giants converted into the game-winning field goal. Favre said good-bye to Green Bay looking old, cold, and indifferent.

Handed a chance to win in overtime, Favre heaved an ill-advised pass into the hands of Philly's Brian Dawkins. The Eagles converted the pick into the game-winning field goal.

Into the saddle— Every story has a beginning, and for Favre it came when he relieved injured Green Bay Packers starter Don Majikowski on Sept. 20, 1992, against the Cincinnati Bengals. In his first significant NFL playing time, the second-year quarterback passed for 289 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning 35-yard strike to Kitrick Taylor with 13 seconds remaining. Seven days after that 24-23 victory, Favre led the Packers past the Pittsburgh Steelers to notch the first of his NFL record 181 wins as a starter while making the first of his record 285 consecutive starts.
                                                                  9. Six-pack— Favre's lone season as a member of the New York Jets was an up-then-down affair, ultimately marred by his injured passing arm. But on his way to leading the Jets to an 8-3 start (before their season-ending 1-4 tailspin), Favre fired a career-high six touchdown passes in a 56-35 defeat of the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 28, 2008.

                                                                  8. Snowbird— Lambeau Field looked like a snow globe when Favre and the Packers hosted the Seattle Seahawks in the divisional round of the 2007 NFC playoffs. Early miscues put the Pack in a 14-0 hole. But the old gunslinger brought Green Bay back in a classic Favre performance — under-hand passes, throwing snowballs at teammates after scores — by connecting on three touchdowns in a 42-20 victory. It proved to be Favre's last victory as a member of the Packers.
                                                                  7. Bronco buster— Favre lofted a rainbow down the left sideline to Greg Jennings that went for an 82-yard touchdown on the first play of overtime as the Packers beat the Broncos in Denver 19-13 on Oct. 29, 2007, on Monday Night Football.
                                                                  6. Striking gold— After two efficient but fairly pedestrian starts for the Minnesota Vikings, Favre provided his first magical moment for his former divisional rivals on Sept. 20, 2009. With the San Francisco 49ers leading 24-20 with 12 seconds to go, Favre took the snap and scrambled right while eluding the Niners pass rush. Before being taken to the ground, he smoked a 32-yard pass to the back line of the end zone (the ball actually traveled 50 yards in the air on a clothesline) where Minnesota receiver Greg Lewis reeled it in for the decisive points. Ball game.
                                                                  5. Sharpe image— Trailing 24-21 at the Silverdome in his first playoff start, Favre scrambled left then reset and fired a 40-yard rocket across the width field to a wide-open Sterling Sharpe in the right corner of the end zone for a game-winning touchdown against the Detroit Lions on Jan. 8, 1994. It was the Packers' first postseason win in 11 years and the first of Favre's 13 playoff victories.
                                                                  4. Dethroning Marino— Favre found Jennings on a 16-yard touchdown hookup in the first quarter of a 23-16 win over the Vikings on Sept. 30, 2007. It was Favre's 421st career TD pass, giving him the top spot on the NFL's all-time list over Dan Marino. Later in the season, Favre would also eclipse Marino's record of 61,361 passing yards. If Favre opts to play in 2010, he'll almost certainly reach 500 TD passes (he currently has 497) and 70,000 passing yards (he has 69,329) early in the season.
                                                                  3. Lord of Lambeau— In his highly anticipated return to Lambeau as a member of the archrival Vikings on Nov. 1, 2009, Favre smacked the Packers with four TD passes in a 38-26 Minnesota victory. This performance came four weeks after Favre burned Green Bay for 271 yards and three TDs in a 30-23 win at the Metrodome.
                                                                  2. Irv's tribute— One day after his father Irvin unexpectedly died, Favre had arguably the greatest game of his career. Playing in front of a Monday Night Football audience and an Oakland Raiders home crowd that cheered him, Favre passed for 399 yards and four touchdowns (mostly in the first half) in a stirring tribute to his father. His 154.9 QB rating for the game is still Favre's personal best.
                                                                  1. Super Sunday— Playing an hour from his hometown of Kiln, Miss., Favre helped the Packers break their 29-year title drought by leading the way in a 35-21 victory over the New England Patriots at the Superdome in New Orleans for Super Bowl XXXI. Though kick returner Desmond Howard was named the game's MVP, Favre made a strong case by passing for 246 yards and two TDs while running for another score. The image of Favre running downfield with his helmet held high over his head (yes, that would draw a penalty today) after launching a 54-yard TD to Andre Rison in the first quarter for the game's first points remains one of the defining images of his iconic career.

of my football experience up here in the NFC North....for close to 20 years

And for the first part of his playing career he could not

But after seeing him and the Vikings for so long...you could
could also see that this QB fukked up a lot on the big, critical games
thru out his career....I have outlined these games in this thread...

He was revered in GB coz GB had nothing else to root for....nothing
else in GB except for the Green and Yellow....

His only Super Bowl win happened because of Reggie White
                                                                      and the Packer defense...

Favre is sooooo overrated that a lot of people are blind to the fact

The only thing he has done was have the most consecutive game
playing streak...and that is due more to luck than anything else..

he threw the most TD passes....so what
he threw the most INT's also...so that evens out..

and then at the end of his career he pulls this retire/unretire bullshit
and it just shows the lack of character that this hillbilly really has inside..

Favre is a clown...on the field for soooo long and now off the field..

                                                                      Hope this helps...
