Yes he IS that great....but.....his ego has bit him in da azz in the NFC championship games (i.e. that uncalled for interception which led to loss last year!!!). If he stops trying to grab headlines in big games there is no stopping him, but he loves headlines. Why else would he retire year after year?
Is Brett Favre REALLY That Great .......

#143I called the Viking training camp headquarters today and offered my services....told
them i would be willing to go to the airport and pick Favre up when he flys in on
his private jet......
That way, Chili can stay at camp and spend his valuable time on devising offensive plays
for Favre to use in the upcoming season......Comment -

#144Favre Good, Not Great
With all due respect, Brett Favre is a compiler. He has had a nice career. However, he is not the greatest ever. He is not even in the top 5. Is he better than Peyton Manning? Joe Montana? Tom Brady? You have to have Super Bowls - notice the "s." Exceptions can be made for the Peyton Mannings and Dan Marinos. Favre has far too many INTs. I use to bash Manning because he was being anointed the greatest ever by the media without winning consistently in the playoffs. Very good signal caller, but at the end of the day, he could not lead his team to victories against the Patriots in the playoffs. I like QB's that consistently win when the games matter most. My top QB's are Montana, Bradshaw, and Brady. Other QB's have better season stats, but you play to win Super Bowls. Trent Dilfer is a garbage QB with a ring, of course he is not better than Marino, Moon, etc. I had to say that to avoid that conversation getting started.Comment -

#148The Favre Monster is back in Minneapolis and I dont think he is here
to see the White Sox battle the Twins for the division lead...
He will probably head back to the Vikings....play some games...throw some TD's and throw
a lot more INT's....completely suck a$$ in a playoff game ..and collect millions of dollars and then
fly back to Mississippi...

#168Originally posted by icancount2oneC'mon man Manning is way better than Brady. Manning had to score 35 points to win playoff games, Brady could get by with 17 sometimes. They both have that killer instinct at the end of the fourth quarter, but when the pass rush is getting there, Brady makes mistakes that Manning doesn't. Also it seems in recent years that Brady's seemingly psychic ability to know when a blitz is coming and what the coverage schemes are is fading (cough, cough).
If Brady can win a super bowl post spygate, I might respect him a little more.
Playoff numbers:
Favre 13 wins 11 losses 5855 yards 44 TDs 30 Ints 86.3 rating
Brady 14 wins 4 losses 4108 yards 28 TDs 15 Ints 85.5 rating
Manning 9 wins 9 losses 5164 yards 28 TDs 19 Ints 87.6 rating
As you can see, the ratings are about the same with Brady throwing less picks, but also less yards, probably from playing with more leads. The big one is wins and losses. Maybe Brady was lucky to be on such great teams with such great defenses, but that number is hard to ignore.Comment -

#172Favre is light years better then any other options the Vikes have. and as far as is he great? I dont like the circus hes put on the last 3 years deciding if or if not he will play, but he is still a top 10 QB in the league even at 40 years of age. He compares to most of the multi Superbowl QBS you mentioned other then MontanaComment -

#175Originally posted by JW CashWev have to admit that the vast majority of football fans
believe the deciding factor pertaining to a QB's greatness
is ...........the number of Super Bowls he has won...
Forget records....Tarkenton, Marino and Favre have the majority
of QB records...but there is only 1 Super Bowl won by that group..
------------------
There have been 44 Super Bowls....
won by
4 wins Terry Bradshaw
4 wins Joe Montana
3 wins Troy Aikman
3 wins Tom Brady
2 wins John Elway
2 wins Ben Roethlisberger
2 wins Bob Griese
2 wins Jim Plunkett
2 wins Roger Staubach
2 wins Bart Starr
Brett Favre has won 1 Super Bowl...so essentially
he is mired in a vast group of 17 other 1 Super Bowl
game winners..
Is that Greatness...
The last 3 NFC Championship games for Favre have been total disaster..
At Philadelphia....in OT...he throws a ridiculously ill conceived pass to
the only player that could catch it....an Eagle safety..and Eagles Win..
At his own fabled Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field...against a team who
has just won 3 road games in the playoffs...hard to win 4...But leave
it to Favre...in OT ..he throws another stupid interception and Giants Win!
And just last year,,,he teases again.....Driving for a winning FG in the
NFC Title game....he throws an unbelievable archaic cross body pass
and the Saints easily pick it off...and win in OT...
Is this Greatness ??
I have always hated the Green Bay Packers ....and if it was late in a game
that they could win....more times than not....I knew Farve would do something
stupid...and cost them the game..
Look at Favre..in playoff games....have you ever seen a QB fumble as much
as he does to lose critical games..remember the Ram playoff game..
Favre has longevity...has records ...has what 17 other QB's have...he has 1 Super
Bowl win.....
But as far as I am concerned...he was just a bafflin, bumblin, buffoon hillybilly..
He lost just as many big games as he won.....he was just like a ticking time bomb,
you knew it was just a matter of time before he would disintegrate..
I just hope now....he just stays retired....
Favre.....slightly above average quarterback with records that are just for show.Comment
