#213I'll have to read through this whole thread later today I guess to try and understand everything, maybe someone explained it better.
But from what I understand, everybody makes 4 picks each week after the prick does and you try to beat his record for the week, so if he goes 2-2 and you go 3-1 then you win. Everybody who beats him each week wins points but SBR pros get double points, so if 1,000 people are entered into this contest and lets say the 1st week 400 people beat the prick, are the 50k sbr points then divided up between those people that beat the prick?
So using the above scenario, 50,000 sbr points/400 winners and let's say out of those 400 winners, 300 of them are SBR pros and 100 are non pros and since SBR pros get double the points of non pros in this contest it would equal out to 142.86 points for each of the 300 pros and 71.43 points for each of the 100 non pros since (142.86pts x 300 pros) + (71.43pts x 100 non pros) = 50,001 points
I wish it was better explained in the OP for this thread how the winnings are calculated out, examples are always great.......Comment -

#214Nittany, you oversimplified the division part. The amounts you get are proportional to how much you beat him by. In short , if he ends up with 0 units, then the ones who are perfect (5 units -- 4-0 with 1 for best bet) get 5x what that the ones who end up with 1 with unit get.
Also, I hope you are wrong about the double for pros part. The way I read it, the doubling occurs after the shares of the 50000 are determined. At least I hope that's the way it is. Maybe not, though.Comment -

#215Also it goes by units, not by record. One of the four picks is a best bet worth 2x, so they're not the same thing. (add in that lines are different. +105 compared to -120, etc.)[quote=jjgold;5683305]I win again like usual

How to play Beat The Prick
- You will make 4 plays each week. Making less than 4 plays disqualifies you for that weekly prize but those plays will count toward your season-ending score.
- By midnight Wednesday of each week, 'The Prick' will make 4 picks on NFL or NCAAF sides or totals. Contestant picks cannot be entered until 'The Prick' has made his picks. The games which he selects will be taken off the board and are not available to contestants.
- Everyone including The Prick will choose a 2-unit (double value) best bet each week.
- You must Beat The Prick to win. If The Prick scores +3.00 and you score +3.10 you will have beaten The Prick. However, if The Prick goes 4-0 with his football plays, there are no winners.
- Only players with a positive score can earn prizes. Placing above The Prick but with negative units for the week will not earn prizes.
- You must have made 48 picks to be eligible for the season-ending cash prizes.
____
Edit by Lou: You must make exactly 4 picks per week. That's both the minimum and maximum. If you make less, you will be unable to claim a weekly prize in that week.Comment -

#226Four picks a week. That's the minimum and maximum. If you make less, you can't win a weekly prize.
